14 day exchange /return

How do the networks get round the 14day exchange/return policy. CPW told me that if you walk out of the store with the phone thats it! No refund or exchange. They say that you should get hold of a phone and try it for a few weeks....! I did manage to take one back after a long debate and calls to orange and the sales rep at cpw muttered under his breath ' gonna loose my commision now'!

Is it not just distance selling laws that allow you to return a handset that you order online or over the phone?0

Surely you read the T&C before signing the contract.:D0

The networks have realised that they are not a library where you can get a phone and try it for a couple of weeks and then take it back.
He buying mail order you have 7 days to inspect the phone as long as you have not used it.
The networks have caused this tightening up of rules as they give dealers a cap on how many phones can be returned in a month of 4% of connections and then charge us £50 per phone over that and the threat of losing your account with them.
This includes faulty phones as well which is why you see so many clearance offers.
Not the dealers fault as we dont want it like this.0 -
It was from the cpw i got the phone. It wasn't until i was ready to go that the guy said you can't bring it back. I have in the past taken phones back if they weren't what i expected. The thing that got my back up was when i managed to get orange to let me take it back the guy in the cpw muttered that he was going to loose his commision! i don't care about the cpw and their managers commision. if the phone isn't right it isn't right. I have been told that this is only done by a few of the networks. When i went to the cpw with a code from orange to confirm that i could return it the manager was straight on the phone saying 'this guy reckons you are gonna let him cancel the contract..... pause....what about my commision!
So in future i will a)order online and 2)never go to the cpw, even if it's to shelter from the rain.end the tv tax0 -
Why would you want to buy from a CPW store anyway?!?! Buy online, always better deals and you are protected by the distance selling regulations meaning that you can return any product without a reason....
CPW employees will tell you any bulls*it to get their comission, hence why they were on watchdog the other week for miss-selling insurance on the iphone by lying....

Ive had the a similar problem with CPW. My daughter bought a memory card for her sister's phone as a Christmas presant, in the meantime I had sorted my other daghter's memory card out and it was working fine. I told my daughter to take it back to CPW, as it was unopened and she had the reciept... she took it back after 10 days and they told her they wouldnt take it back... My daughter (only 15) threw a tantrum in the shop, but they wouldnt budge!!!!!!!! so now we have a new memory card that we dont need. Ebay here we come I think...
I will never ever shop in CPW again.0 -
Its best to ask them before hand if they accept returns and on what grounds. That way you know your options well in advance before making a purchase.
If the memory card was unopened and unused, they should accept it as returns.0 -
I've bought a phone from CPW, that is faulty. I took it back after 31 days asking for a refund, and they refused, saying that it was more than 28 days after purchase.
I tried to explain that the sale of goods act over-rode their stupid 28 day policy, but they wouldn't budge, and would only offer a repair, not even a replacement.
Any suggestions to get a replacement, or even a refund?

Surely you are only after a working phone? It is entirely up to the seller whether he replaces the phone, repairs it or offers a refund. If he offers to repair it, that is all you are entitled to.I tried to explain that the sale of goods act over-rode their stupid 28 day policy, but they wouldn't budge, and would only offer a repair, not even a replacement.
Any suggestions to get a replacement, or even a refund?
