TUI flights - cashless sales

I'm sure the vast majority of TUI passengers will be aware - but just a heads up for anybody who might not be.
No cash accepted for onboard sales - and they don't accept Amex, Revolut or any form of prepaid cards.

It's exactly the same for Ryanair and probably many others (not sure about Easyjet but I did buy cigarettes using a card).
It makes airline operations much more efficient. OH still works for an airline where crew are having to walk up and down the aisle trying to get small banknotes and many of her cabin colleagues can't wait for this day.💙💛 💔0 -
Thought I was going mad for a moment, or had been dreaming about the MSE forum!

Glad you found Noodle Doodle Man’s older post, bagand96. I also had a sense of Déjà Vu when I read the recent post.We flew back on TOM from Turkey two weeks ago. Just before the crew started the trolley service the crew made the announcement regarding being a cashless airline and only accepting payment by card. The people in front of us in row 3 ordered snacks and drinks then pulled out Turkish Lira bank notes to pay. Crew apologised and repeated payments restricted to cards and that they did not take cash. Dippy passenger said they heard that but this wasn’t cash it was Turkish Lira…3

Sterling, Euro and normally the local currency is accepted on board. This isn't the case though for some countries, of which Turkey is one, leaving it as just Sterling or Euro.
Agreed generally though that certain things do sometimes need to be brought up again for discussion and this probably is one of them.💙💛 💔0 -
