Hi all, not read all of the lengthy thread so apologies in advance. I was invited by E.on to take part in their "Energy shift" on 9th November and duly signed up. I received notification on Tuesday 15th November that the first "event" would run from 5pm to 6pm that evening. E.on set a target which from memory was to use 0.20 Kwh less than my average for that period with a "goal" of receiving approximately £1.18 in credit to my electricity account.
As it happens I was leaving home to collect my wife from work at 5pm so switched off everything I normally wouldn't - (TV,TV box, sound system x 3,router,Pc, automatic lights etc. Basically only left on fridges, freezers and alarm system.
We got back at 5.45pm so obviously put a light or 2 on manually and waited to reach the 6pm target, after this I rebooted everything expecting issues but experienced none except time for everything to start working again.
Today received an email and credit to my account for £1.28 having acheived my first target.
"You reduced your energy usage by 85% which means you'll get £1.28 credited to your account. "
Hopefully helps other forum members reduce costs?
P.S. I'm on a very cheap tariff until September 23

I have just had an email from Hugo, who do an app that links to your smart meter, saying it's users can join the scheme through the app. They will tell you when an event is scheduled for you to opt in via the app. The National Grid give £3 for each kWhr you save and Hugo keep 20% for administering the scheme. Apparently you can't register for this if you are also doing it via your supplier.0
