Hope you feel better soon.  There have been so many iterations of sore throat, cough, cold etc this winter.

  • Well, hello....I did post the other day....or thought I did, but then it appeared I hadn't actually pressed the Post Comment button.... :D.  That just shows how rough I was feeling.  I'm finally starting to feel almost normal again, although still coughing a lot and very full of "nasty stuff" :D .  Been having lots of early nights and obviously that has helped.  Very cold here today and parts of the pavements still icy where the sun hasn't got to.  But I decided it looked so nice, I wrapped up and went for a slow stroll round the nearest park, which luckily is just at the end of our street and across the road. Wasn't out for long, but it was the first walk I have had in a week and normally I would walk every day.  So progress is being made.
Hoping tomorrow DH will come with me to the local farm shop to lift a bag of potatoes into the boot for me.  I don't have the strength for that at the best of times, let alone when I'm feeling rough.  I will wear a mask, in case I am still full of germs (which I think I possibly am), and also because there are so many other things going around I don't want to catch anything else.

Not much else happening really. Surveys seem to be picking up slowly, which is good news. Although it seems to be harder to grab one on P/fc. So many seem to have 1 place only available and gone before you click on it. I am getting a few though, but nowhere near as many as in November/December. And the others are just slowly building up.
Today I paid off £65 towards the holiday in the summer, so that has made me feel good. We've now paid more than we owe in total, which is always good and I have all the dates written in my planner for making the payments in time for the final balance due date.  Would never have done that in the bad old days.

Been starting to think about planning what I want to grow this year. Last year I started trying things out and really enjoyed it. All in troughs and pots as we have no garden space to use. But it was great, we managed a few potatoes, carrots and courgettes. FIL has gifted me a strawberry planter to use this year and DH is  promising to make me another planter/trough thingy. Might try tomatoes as well this time.  Need to read up about starting stuff off on the window sill in kitchen and see if that helps things and means I can do more. Find it all quite exciting actually. If I had room, I'd get a greenhouse.

Well need to get on as I have some minced pork from my Mr S delivery, waiting to be batch cooked into shepherds pie and chilli, a cake to make (as I only bake now if I have to put the oven on for something else, and DH wants pie. chips & peas for dinner!
Have a good evening everyone. x

A lot of people grow in pots if they don’t have much space. Good to hear you’re feeling better.

    Glad you are feeling better.

I mostly grow in pots - I focussed on doing a few things well last summer.  Basil, coriander and mint as these are the herbs I really like and use.  Cherry tomatoes and plum tomatoes (my neighbour kindly gifted me the plants when they were tiny) courgettes and what turned into an abundance of chilies.  I think they all did well because of the glorious hot summer we had.

Oh yes you reminded me there, I did some herbs last year as well. Had loads of basil and rosemary, but the others didn't come to anything. Will try some more. Need to write a list and see what I need. Want to do as much as I can without spending too much.

  • Just checking in to say I am still here. Sorry for not updating for a few days. Been feeling a bit ...not sure what it is really, not ill or anything, although I am still coughing a lot after the virus, but just don't seem to have the get up and go that I usually have to do things and think about stuff.  I started the year with a new planner and so many plans and ideas, and since I was ill, I have slipped by the wayside.  Think the surveys being slow didn't help either.  So I am writing off the last couple of weeks and starting again.  Will update ASAP as soon as I have got my act back together again.

Hope you feel better soon. Sounds like the January blues. You start off all determined then lose momentum. I bought a planner and have hardly used it but love the concept of it. You can start afresh when you feel more up to it.

  • Feeling much better today, have changed my mindset and given myself a talking to. Still a bit tired, so think I need extra sleep, but that is what I am focusing on now.

Today I started proper spring cleaning and deep cleaned the bathroom.

Done a few surveys and will cash out later and decide on my PADs for the day

Applied online for a savings account with YBS at 3.35% interest. Something I can start saving a bit and lock it away and forget about it. Even though we are wanting to pay off the mortgage quicker, I thought there is nothing wrong with trying to save a bit extra here & there as well. Even 3.35% interest on a few hundred ££, is better than nothing.

Found a book in the charity shop for £1. Only went in to look for a puzzle and there on the shelf was The Salt Path, that one of you had recommended on your diary. Can't remember who it was though.  Anyway, I had looked on the Bay of E, and even on there I couldn't get one for under £5, and wasn't going to pay that for a 2nd hand book. I am about 1/3 of the way through already and it such an inspiring and amazing story so far. Just shows the resilience of some people.

    Have a good evening everybody.
