  • Re pastrami, I would use it up in things like risotto paysanne (risotto with meat and veg in it), fried rice, pad thai, that sort of thing.

Think Nigella did a recipe with salami on a similar line

  • My kids are all big teens now but still have the oddness over suddenly declaring dislikes/fussiness. The girl doesnt really like red meat yet she's always borderline anaemic and her younger (and much taller!) brother had just been diagnosed with anaemia too so struggling to come up with meals they'll both eat.

Was just given a £50 John Lewis voucher and then I have £16 off £80 spend at Waitrose voucher so planning on getting £89 for £14 (mainly meat as they have much higher welfare) then on to @ldi for the packed lunch and other bits. And DH currently en route to Lidl to try and get one of their veg boxes

Morning, @beckstar1975. I sympathise with you on your fussy eaters. When i was growing up i hated anything made with milk, other than cheese and butter. Custard, milk puddings, milkshake, etc all got refused. When i got pregnant with DD1, I started eating/drinking these again. DD1 now won't have things made from milk, even drinks her tea black, but eats lots of cheese. DS1 from the age of two for around 18 months, would not eat anything with egg in. Not even cake. Now be eats anything, but eats one thing at a time, so all of one veg, then all of another, then potatoes, then meat. Two of the grand children won't eat gravy. DGS1 doesn't like any sauce that is white. DGD1 is feast or famine. Either eats everything of nothing.

There are a lot of autism/aspergers  genes running through the family.

With iron, will she eat seafood, eggs, green vegetables, lentils?

Good luck with your free shopping. My favourite sort. I had a £50 Waitrose voucher last year. I really struggled to spend it. Every item I picked up, I looked at the price, and put it back down as too expensive. DD3 was with me and made a point of packing the shopping in Poundland carriers at the till. This was in Wilmslow, where all the footballers live!

The peppers have now finished outside, I brought the last dozen in yesterday, a few tomatoes left. Plenty of leeks, broccoli and kale.

No shopping needed for the rest of this week, I hope.

    Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxx

You can get some real bargains at Waitrose if you get there at the right time - Sundays are good, or just before closing! I got a leg of lamb once for two quid.

It must depend which Waitrose you live near. Waitrose is my nearest shop but the reductions in mine are really small. They only reduce by about 10%, but they do it a few days before the best before date. They do often have some good offers on though from time to time so check the website before you go. Also if you need any alcohol for Christmas you can use your conditional spend on that too which not all supermarkets allow you to do.

My nearest Waitrose is over two hours drive away. Very few in Wales. Hence why when i had a voucher last year, I waited until we were in England visiting family, to us it.

Tea, I used about a third of the pastrami, to make chow mein. Also used HG carrots, HG peppers, HG chard, and a couple of onions. The chow mein sauce was bought from ClearanceXL, for pennies. Served with instant noodles. DGD1 helped to it, so the vegetables were rustic!
