Congratulations Henry, that's brilliant news! I can see you grinning from here JackieI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4

@London_1 - Tesco's have 2Kg bags of sugar for £1.25 which is probably about as cheap as you'll get at the moment I think. The last time I was in Savers they had some at 62p Kg but not sure if it's still that price as that was a while ago so might be worth a look if you've got one locally.

All this talk of sugar. Iceland have a 5kg bag for £3.25, works out at at 65p per kilo. But if you go on Tuesdays and are over 60, you get 10% discount. Makes it less than 60p per kilo.
Called in at Aldi. Bought a dozen eggs, our hens have slowed down laying. 4 pints of milk and 2 lettuce. Total spent, £4.60. I now have £177.36 left.

He has to get his application in next week but won't hear about his place until the spring!
DD was saying that she was uncertain about one school as they didn't do food technology. I pointed out how useless she'd found it. She is a good cook but she certainly didn't learn to cook at school.2 -

My friend's DD went to a school where most of the food cooked used convenience foods - ie trifle using the little sponge fingers, jelly, ready made custard and squirt cream on top! What a waste of time. At least I learnt how to make pastry and cakes but not much else.

DD once had to make a pudding at school which consisted of butterscotch angel delight layered with crushed ginger nuts.
I wish children could be taught how to budget and cook properly. DH says next time we have DGS during the holidays he's going to teach him how to make pizza from scratch.3 -

Well done to Jackie's Henry. Hope you enjoy your new job.
I cooked pork chops in the slow cooker for tea, with boiled potatoes, carrots and HG kale. Tea was eaten by all the smalls, OH, DD1 and I. S-i-L didn't have any, he doesn't really like pork, maybe he's living in the wrong house. He cooked something for himself later. I may make pizzas today, undecided get.
First i need to brave the weather to get out to the polytunnel. Some watering needs doing, which always seems so wrong when the rain is hammering down. I'll also get over and pick some more apples.
Of now to brave the weather! Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.6
