  • Congratulations Henry, that's brilliant news! I can see you grinning from here Jackie :D
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.

@London_1 - Tesco's have 2Kg bags of sugar for £1.25 which is probably about as cheap as you'll get at the moment I think. The last time I was in Savers they had some at 62p Kg but not sure if it's still that price as that was a while ago so might be worth a look if you've got one locally.

He has to get his application in next week but won't hear about his place until the spring!

DD was saying that she was uncertain about one school as they didn't do food technology.  I pointed out how useless she'd found it. She is a good cook but she certainly didn't learn to cook at school.

Quite agree!  She'd be better off teaching him to cook herself.  At least she can teach him to eat things he will actually eat!  The chances are that at school it's likely to be things which he wouldn't want to eat anyway.

My friend's DD went to a school where most of the food cooked used convenience foods - ie trifle using the little sponge fingers, jelly, ready made custard and squirt cream on top!  What a waste of time.  At least I learnt how to make pastry and cakes but not much else.

DD once had to make a pudding at school which consisted of butterscotch angel delight layered with crushed ginger nuts.

I wish children could be taught how to budget and cook properly. DH says next time we have DGS during the holidays he's going to teach him how to make pizza from scratch.

Yes, Savers still 62p...bought some today.  And Iceland are currently doing 2 x 1kg bags for £1.25. Bought in Savers as can't be sure Iceland price will hold until Tuesday to Get the 10% off.
