Free Landline Number Calls From My PC?

Is there a way to call customer service numbers for free from my PC? My mobile PAYG per minute rate is extortionate (30p/min) so being on hold is not an option. Wondering what alternatives are out there?

Is it any particular company you are trying to call? Have a look at https://www.saynoto0870.com/search.php to see if there is an alternative number.0

Interesting site, but sadly no. It's the Student Loans Company number. 0300 100 0611. I just know it's going to end up being a long call.

You mean to call for free or you mean calling a freephone number?
You can set up VOIP on your computer and smart phone, wont be free to call without paying a monthly subscription but you can do PAYG for VOIP with no monthly fees and will be 1p/min or less for landlines, free for freephone and 087/084 numbers will depend on the exact number (for example Curry's old 0870 number is 1.7p/min)0 -

What about 0141 243 3660, seems to be the number they give from overseas and is I believe a Glasgow regional number.0

You can use any VOIP software with them but I just use whichever free one they are recommending (that has changed occasionally over the years)
I used them a lot as a I travel and I pay 1p/min to call from anywhere in the world to a UK landline as long as I have data... was more useful before the likes of WhatsApp etc but still useful for dealing with an issue with insurance or HMRC or such whilst overseas rather than just friends & family.1 -

Maybe it would be more prudent to move mobile phone provider/tariff. 30ppm is quite a lot, you can get better elsewhere.
