New bed/old bed

I really need to replace my bed but am struggling to find anywhere that will deliver and remove the old. Some take only the mattress. Those that take everything require it to be dismantled and bagged beforehand. I’m too old and weak to manage to bag a mattress, let alone take the divan apart and bag it! I only have that bed to sleep on so getting someone in a while beforehand or getting someone to guarantee they will come the day before is also problematic. I can’t be the only person who has had this problem …anyone found a good solution?

We bought our new bed from a local store last year(London Lounge, not sure if it's a franchise), we had to pay a token amount - £10/20 can't remember, but they took the old bed away at the same time as delivering the new one, and waited while hoovered where the bed had been! What size bed is it? Do you have space to temporarily have the two? Do you have a spare bed/sofa you can realistically sleep on?
Not having a spare bed and not liking sleeping on the floor I'd be tempted to wait until the new bed is in place (dont want a last minute cancellation) and then use a same/next day disposal service who typically will take it down for a small extra charge over picking it up from the front door. What your options are will depend on the above questions and who operates in your area.0 -
OP, around hear we have an organisation called NET - Neighbourhood Elder Team I think stands for. Anyway, they help older people with stuff like this and organise volunteers to help out. Worth having a look for something similar where you live. Also, try someone like Help the Aged, or even your local council. As above, try a local independent who may be more willing to go the extra mile.1

Sadly no space for two beds as it’s a double and the sofa is a bit small really. It had never dawned on me before how difficult these things are when alone in a small house - even the council service won’t work as they need it to be outside by 6am and assume you have a space big enough, rather than live in a terraced house with only a token space in front (filled with the bins!)

Do you have a Good Neighbour Scheme in your area? You could ask for assistance in dismantling the bed.0

Ask a neighbour to help dismantle it and get Bulky Waste at your local council to take it away (normally a fee but not too expensive).0
