Hi All,
I am currently on a Variable Tariff with SSE, paying bills Quarterly. I received an email recently saying that they were moving me onto a Direct Debit and that there was nothing I could do about this, as they would sort it out with my Bank. Surely I cannot be forced into a Direct Debit?

You can’t. They have to let you pay cash on receipt of bill. They don’t have to let you pay quarterly though.0

I can’t understand why they would force you to do this, but as long as it is a variable DD (which they offer) you will still be paying for what you use and paying less because of the DD discount.0

if you dont have time to look at them all then the basic answer is they offer all the payment methods they are required to by ofgem. its been two years since ovo took over sse. things change. you could always move supplier if you wanted to (its not like theres any different rates on offer really at the moment anyway)

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.1
