Which BB & phone providers *don't* have an automatic price escalator included in the contract?

Options
Hi,

Broadband and phone contract coming to an end in December. With Plusnet who want a silly renewal price so I started looking on the various comparison websites.

All of the contracts I've read so for have automatic price escalators as a clause, which goes something like 'annual RPI in April + 4%'.

When inflation was running at a few % this didn't really matter, but with the state of the economy, on an 18 month contract it's going to be a sizable increase, twice over for me. The first one kicks in after only 3 months, which makes searching by the 'monthly sign-up price' a bit pointless.

So, does anyone know of any BB&Phone provider that doesn't have these RPI clauses built into the contract?

Providers that do have them, that I know of are;

Plusnet
BT
Onestream
Vodafone

Thanks.

Even those that don't can still increase their prices, particularly more likely if inflation stays relatively high but you can leave the contract without penalty

Pretty much all providers at the budget end of the market have an automatic rise included.  If you don't want a built-in price rise, find somebody that doesn't have them.  But you'll pay more from the outset.

I missed that thread. If it's commonplace then I may as well go for one of the cheapest with a decent service rating. OneStream have a FTC deal on at the moment. Even with a 14% rise after 3 months (10.1%CPI announced today +3.9%), it's still cheaper than Plusnet.

    Thanks.

I have no personal experience of Onestream, and all ISP's get some level of bad reviews, but do check these people out first before you commit, these forums and elsewhere.

I have just renewed with again TalkTalk for another 24 months on a fixed price plus plan of £24.95  ( which is just over a pound less than I am currently paying )

Rather that the offer price of £24 + ( Inflation hikes etc )

Oh and cancelled the so call TalkTalk tv
which is / was included but is increasing
by a £1 in November . So removed that
boost as I don’t even use it anyway.

    Fibre 35 - £24.95 a month.

36MB Fibre+ landline (no calls) should be no more than £23.99/month with Plusnet which I don't consider silly pricing. The price after the RPI+3.9% increase come the Spring will obviously be more, if we assume that RPI will be ~10% probably something like £27.50 or £28/month.

The later that you leave renewal the cheaper it will probably get in your online account offers section.

I would phone them up. I generally have found PN CS to be good.
I wonder if Openreach are transitioning to FTTP in your area so a stop sell on existing FTTC?

Admittedly I am nowhere near end of current contract but am currently being offered renewal at £23.99/month or upgrade to the faster Fibre Extra for £25.99 based on an 18 month contract.

Currently paying £23.19, my out of contract price is showing as £41.75.  I can renew the existing deal for, um,. £23.99.
My contract is up in April just after the auto increase so I have an opportunity to wipe that out :)
