It would be to your advantage to get some kind of payment arrangement up and running ASAP, if you cannot afford to pay this outright, as this is a priority debt, as I`m sure you are aware.
They give you their payment details, pay what you can, when you can, regardless of what they may say, the quicker you can pay this off the better.
They will be acting under a liability order, not a county court judgement, so nothing will appear on your credit file with regard to this.
Before you make any arrangement to pay the council tax bill, does it relate to the property you left your ex in? And for before or after you left? Can someone confirm if the OP would be liable if they had left the property but the ex is resident?
I think it was £400 originally but my ex used to get all the letters and brake downs through her child benefits or housing support
But the weird but is now if you look at the letter it says Mr my name and Mr my name
Twice like she's been removed and I am liable0 -
I did find this on email

I had these 3 letters come Friday all in one envelope to my home address now where I live but no one knows I live here which is weird
I left the family home in June 2021

Go through all your photos and edit the personal details out eg name, account number, mobile etc.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.0

You can do the edit with something as simple as a marker pen and re-take the photos.MFW date 2nd Jan 2024 - task complete YAY!0

For council tax you're not liable for any debt accrued after the date you vacated, if someone is still resident in the house. If they're not then it becomes a lot more difficult and very situation specific.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
