  • I can't offer any advice, other than to say you should speak to someone like Stepchange or even CAB,  but just wanted to say I hope others can steer you in the right direction with regards your IVA, which I have no knowledge of. Hope you get something sorted.

Hello. It's no wonder that you are feeling overwhelmed. Strangely, maybe, two things stuck out for me from your post -

    1.  I met a lovely girl now and hope soon to get married.

    2. I have undiagnosed ADHD plus now going through with assessments and counselling for PTSD.

If you are going through assessments and counselling, have you been able to discuss any of your problems with your counsellor? Who has suggested the undiagnosed ADHD?

And - does your new girlfriend know about all the things you mention in your OP?  It would be good if you could start off your new relationship with a relatively clean slate, if at all possible. Or at the very least, being able to share your troubles with her.

It does seem to me that you need help with your mental state as much as you need help with your finances and other worries. If you were able to get some kind of support from your GP or other professional, such as your counsellor, then you may be in a position to ask all the creditors for some breathing space. You could ask them, anyway and tell them of your mental health and how it affected you in the past.

I do agree with those who have advised seeking help from a free debt help agency. I always recommend StepChange, they helped me so much when I was struggling. They do not judge anyone and they can advise and help when you are in financial difficulty. They help you to organise your life and your money.

This is their link - https://www.stepchange.org/

You don't have to enter any plan or anything you don't want to but they can advise you. Some plans are good, I know this from personal experience.

But also, your ex is surely jointly responsible for the IVA, since her name is on the letter you received.

I do hope you manage to get sorted out. I do recommend taking a very deep breath and sharing all this with your girlfriend if you haven't already. A problem shared is a problem halved, is an old saying I know but it is true.

All the very best to you.

Thanks for all your lovely helpful replies much appreciated
My credit report as it stands is not too bad considering but that could and will change very soon if I don't sort the other bits out
Obviously I am on the iva register but soon to be removed,  I have one ccj that I want to fight if possible as that was for my ltd company but I signed a personal guarantee which truthfully I didn't even realise this was for my accountants for my ltd company
That's the only ccj then there is defaults not to do with the iva outside

Bt default £97 I left the broadband for my ex and children as it had one month left on the contract which she said she would pay that didn't happen she rang up and took out in her name without me knowing and then kept the equipment so I got that charge

Hutchinson 3g uk ltd default £476 my exs daughter contract I got in my name , the child upgraded the phone without my permission and then sold the mobile so I got that

Monzo bank ltd default £75 my fault was registered to ebay and a refund was given and deducted I didn't agree they took the money from there and I didn't put back into the account they closed it with the default

Vanquis Bank credit card £2619 satisfied but deft sold to lowell portfolio ltd
Default for £2609 but I have complained via resolver for irresponsible lending as I took this out whilst in my iva

1st central insurance very confused on my credit file 3 times I only had one car I spent 1.5 hours on the phone and they couldn't really work out what was happening

    2 account defaulted one satisfied

My car was written off so I claimed they offered me money but said they would take the remaining balances clear them and pay me what was left which what happened via payment terms
But obviously not been cleared so complained via resolver for not handled correctly

This is just my report stuff the other stuff is the working after opening all the letters

This seems the most important now as just come to the house yesterday

This is for council tax recovery, they cannot force entry for this debt, they can enter through an unlocked door though, best advice is to not allow them entry, deal with them in writing only, as the demands they make can be overwhelming.

It would be to your advantage to get some kind of payment arrangement up and running ASAP, if you cannot afford to pay this outright, as this is a priority debt, as I`m sure you are aware.

They give you their payment details, pay what you can, when you can, regardless of what they may say, the quicker you can pay this off the better.

They will be acting under a liability order, not a county court judgement, so nothing will appear on your credit file with regard to this.

Before you make any arrangement to pay the council tax bill, does it relate to the property you left your ex in?  And for before or after you left?  Can someone confirm if the OP would be liable if they had left the property but the ex is resident?
