    Hi all,

I contact BWL ask them to hold the case for 30 days, but they replied to me with this:

expenditure and we will only place the file on hold once we have a reference number from the company you are taking debt advice for
but as you have advised your are disputing the balance and you are not wanting to pay
so we will not place this on hold
i have left a clear note on file for you to confirm this will not be on hold
thank you very much for your time today everything has been explained and i have left a note on file for you
the file will not be placed on hold please seek legal advice in regards to the balance you dispute
thank you very much for your time today
To request a copy of this chat select the three dots at the top left of your chat window then select "Send transcript".

There is much more to it I can upload the whole thing later if necessary .
But they basically refuse to comply with PAP for debt claims 2017 - the reason they provided is:
    • I dispute the debt so the case cannot be put on hold (I can't see the connection here?)
    • They need reference number from the company I am taking debt advice for (I don't think it is required by PAP?)
Worst case scenario I will receive a court claim this week and will be defend myself within next month.
The deadline of LBC is tomorrow lol.

As you are seeking debt advice here, I can offer you this reference number - 3764201Y.

    Hope that helps.  :)

    Thanks KeithP.

I guess it might be too late - the closed for the day.
    But I'll still try tomorrow.

I should have remembered to use my other reference number: FBWLSCUM
(might be a little bit too obvious though =)

I'm not sure why you used a chatbot?

That's not how to carry out a formal communication with a solicitor firm.  Nowhere in our advice do we ever tell people to either phone or use livechat for formal responses to LBCs.
Just want to make sure they received the message.
I caught the phone part in the posts but missed the chatbot...
(They actually asked my number... also my income, but ofc..)
    Terrible mistake. :'(

Obvisouly I told them I'm not seeking debt advice from them but from another advisor.
    They just keep playing dumb.
Should have closed the chat right after I dropped the initial message.

Should not have opened it in the first place. You really do not want to talk in any format with these people. Written only  (email is fine) with a definite record of everything said, and no risk of being tricked into revealing more than is advisable ( ie income)
The pen is mightier than the sword ..... and I have many pens.

That chat comes across as hilarious scammery!

Would be funny if it wasn't for the fact that plenty of poor victims probably think they have to fill their income & expenditure in (and/or declare who was driving) because a 'solicitor' said so...

    Hi all,

Just a quick update on this.

I haven’t heard anything since my case was held for 30 days, which ended on 8th December 2022. (Have they given up?)

I will be moving homes soon. Should I email them to inform them of the change of address for service, or should I stay put to avoid "triggering" them again on this case?

Also, I'm wondering if anyone knows whether their email address is still operational. I noticed that they no longer offer email contact on their website (not even for DPO) - it seems communication is now exclusively through their "customer portal".

You will have to give BW and PPS your new address.  It would be unsafe not to.

    Someone said litigation@ works.
