£66 Energy Payment - OVO Energy not crediting me

I'm thoroughly confused by the whole thing.
Ovo paid my £66 into my bank account the same day my DD normally comes out - I noticed on my account that they also want me to increase my DD by £43 a month.
But they haven't taken my DD as usual this month - we are several days past the date now. And can I get hold of them - can I heck. The automated system on the phone line says my account number doesn't exist. They haven't got back to me on Twitter yet. I've tried on their WhatsApp bot as well - someone got back to me this afternoon and said they would pass me to a different department and I am still waiting.
Hopeless. I would just let them get on with it but I'm nervous about missing a payment as we are just about to drawdown on our new mortgage and I really don't want anything to muck that up.0 -
you can see your online account so i don't think that means its been closed...?onemouseplace said:I'm thoroughly confused by the whole thing.

if you are worried about your mortgage and you have the cash you could go into your ovo account and make a manual (card) payment. if the dd is eventually taken then it will mean yo have the extra credit on your account and it might mean your dd doesn't have to go up for a bit.
i don't think you would need to but if you are actually worried about your mortgage might be worth it belt and braces.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.0 -
5 days doesn't sound bad - they don't actually know that the direct debit has been successful until three days after it was received (that's how long you have to reverse it), so that would be getting the whole thing done in two days really.SAC2334 said:
British Gas and 4 other suppliers are onto this fiddle making millions in extra short term loans of your money and hanging onto it as long as they can. Already I ve seen a poster waiting 10 days for them to repay the "loan " you have given them. They also hang onto the Governments £67 as well for as long as possible.PE11AND said:
Anticipating the response I have checked my bank account. Payment date and assistance payment date were on the 1st of this month and to date there is no £66 into my bank account. Therefore British gas are effectively holding my money and no doubt doing this to others and earning interest on the millions of pounds involved?PE11AND said:Makes interesting reading and sounds like a simple situation has been made over-complicated but OVO I believe are on the right track. I am with British Gas. They have taken the regular DD amount of £115 and credited my ENERGY ACCOUNT, with the £66 assistance supplement. After this month's DD I was in credit £505 and now, after payment of the supplement I am in credit £571. Interestingly my anticipated position at the end of my year, (31/01/23), is unchanged at in credit £28.
EDF, SSE, Scot Power and Ovo are also in on it.
The rest are being transparent, like my supplier Octopus, and simply lowered my direct debit by £67.
I have no need to be checking my current account at all to see if my supplier can be bothered to repay what they owe me.
They could program the £67 returns to your bank the following day your direct debit is recieved but they say "within 5 days " Why 5 days ?
BG have over 6 million customers and with interest rates worth having nowadays it looks like its worth it to them to hang onto cash as long as they can
There is no fiddle, there is no scam. It's not worth companies setting up some complicated system for a few thousand pounds of interest (it's certainly not millions) which could easily be wiped out by a few minutes delay in a trading decision.1 -
Thanks - I do have a decent amount of credit on my account (certainly enough to cover this and probably next month's payment) so hopefully that will be enough.ariarnia said:

Just odd and annoying and on my online account it just says payment will be taken on the 14th of November then 12th December. Nothing about October (eg to say it will be taken tomorrow or something).1 -
I have the same query. There has been no credit on my energy account other than my direct debit.
The next day I received & £66 to my bank from Ovo. That on my bill states - £66 refund.
So basically I have received £66 of my own money back!
Where is the money from the Government? My account will be & £400 less than it would be over winter. If they continue to refund me the 'government help' from my own money. 🤷♀️0 -
Your DD has been put to your account plus you got £66 from the govt. paid into your bank account.Needin4 said:I have the same query. There has been no credit on my energy account other than my direct debit.
In other words as normal.
