£66 Energy Payment - OVO Energy not crediting me

Ahh, I see what you mean. I would imagine that it's as Peter999_2 says and it's just been missed on the bill.Dazed_and_C0nfused said:I have noticed a refund of £66 from OVO Energy in my bank account this month. On closer inspection of my OVO account, my direct debit has been taken and then I have had a £66 refund designated as Government Energy Payment. This £66 has been taken from my credit balance! Basically, OVO have given me £66 of my own money back
There is no mention of the energy account being credit with £66 in the first place.
Which surely makes this a refund of the ops own money, albeit badged differently.0 -
Hopefully for the op 😃Jyana said:

Thanks for all the comments - I have checked back over my OVIO account - there is no credit of £66 from HM Government, otherwise I wouldn't have posted. I see the logic of the refund if I had been credited by HMG, but my point is, there is no credit from them, so I have been refunded my own money. I will continue to wait for OVO's response and post it here.1

i agree with the earlier poster. it's hard to see but it's right down at the bottom of the billing page not just the refund at the top.
from our account:
so 66 off our bill AND 66 sent back to our bank accounts.Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

It seems I jumped the gun a little! I contacted OVO and they inform me that the £66 will be credited to my account 5 working days after my DD has been taken.
Thanks for all the comments and support everyone2 -
Not sure I understand my OVO account:
Current billing period
Balance at 21/9 309.25
Total charges 56.15 In (surely it should be out?)
DD 78.00 In
Refunds 66.00 out
Card payment 66.00 in (this is me redirecting the £66 back to my OVO account)
Balance 443.400 -
the 'charges in more detail' might be more useful for the breakdown of charges.Troytempest said:Not sure I understand my OVO account:

our account charges is currently about 30 in credit this month because we've used about 30 of energy inc standing charges but have also had the 66 government credit. that credit isn't shown in the summery. only the dd in and out. our month starts on the 17th of the month so we've got about a week before our final bill for this month and our smart readers will give a smart reading on the night of the 16th so it could be we end up in debt or breaking even.
it looks like you've spent about £10 of energy so far this month so with the 66 government credit you're 56 in credit in total.

Makes interesting reading and sounds like a simple situation has been made over-complicated but OVO I believe are on the right track. I am with British Gas. They have taken the regular DD amount of £115 and credited my ENERGY ACCOUNT, with the £66 assistance supplement. After this month's DD I was in credit £505 and now, after payment of the supplement I am in credit £571. Interestingly my anticipated position at the end of my year, (31/01/23), is unchanged at in credit £28.0

Anticipating the response I have checked my bank account. Payment date and assistance payment date were on the 1st of this month and to date there is no £66 into my bank account. Therefore British gas are effectively holding my money and no doubt doing this to others and earning interest on the millions of pounds involved?PE11AND said:Makes interesting reading and sounds like a simple situation has been made over-complicated but OVO I believe are on the right track. British Gas and 4 other suppliers are onto this fiddle making millions in extra short term loans of your money and hanging onto it as long as they can. Already I ve seen a poster waiting 10 days for them to repay the "loan " you have given them. They also hang onto the Governments £67 as well for as long as possible.PE11AND said:

EDF, SSE, Scot Power and Ovo are also in on it.
The rest are being transparent, like my supplier Octopus, and simply lowered my direct debit by £67.
I have no need to be checking my current account at all to see if my supplier can be bothered to repay what they owe me.
They could program the £67 returns to your bank the following day your direct debit is recieved but they say "within 5 days " Why 5 days ?
BG have over 6 million customers and with interest rates worth having nowadays it looks like its worth it to them to hang onto cash as long as they can0
