Clarity needed over Argos 30 day return policy

No its not, 7th Sept is the start of the 30 days, same as if you pay rent or a mortgage. rent Month would be 7th - 6th, the next 7th would be the start of a new month same applies to mortgages. Its calculated from the day keys are handed over which is normally the day you move in. 30 days from purchase means 30 days from the day of purchase, not hard to understand

Precisely. "One day from" has to include the day after you purchase the item, so "30 days from" has to mean 30 days after, nothing else makes sense.

30 days from date of purchase means exactly that, I just don't see why that's causing confusion. Buy something on the 1st and the 30 days ends on the 30th. 

That's simply wrong. If it said "you have 1 day from date of purchase" do you genuinely believe that means you have to return it on the same day you bought it or would any normal person (and a court) infer that it means 1 day after the date of purchase?

Sorry where are you getting 1 day after, the Op posted the Argos T&Cs as "The policy states 'If you've changed your mind and need to return an item, you have 30 days from the date of purchase or date of receipt if delivered, to return your item(s)."

I'm asking you a simple hypothetical question.

IF it said "you have 1 day from the date of purchase" do you genuinely believe that means you have to return it on the same day you bought it or would any normal person (and a court) infer that it means 1 day after the date of purchase?

1 day from date of purchase would the next day return. buy today return tomorrow.

As you accept that "1 day from date of purchase" must mean 1 day after the date of purchase then obviously if it said "2 days from date of purchase" that must mean 2 days after the date of purchase.

So what is special about the number 30 that makes you believe that "30 days from the date of purchase" actually means 29 days after the date of purchase? At what point do you believe you lose that extra day? 3 days? 4 days? 10 days? It just doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

Considering the amount of discussion this post has created it clearly isn't obvious what the answer is Argos should be a bit more flexible with their policy... it really shouldn't matter if it's a day out.. it doesn't make any difference to them and would be good customer service.

It does stand up, again if you believe you have a valid argument start court proceedings and try to prove your point that way

If it stands up to scrutiny then it should be pretty easy to explain to everyone here.

Why does 1 day from mean 1 day after but 30 days from means 29 days after? This seems a perfectly reasonable and logical question but you don't seem to have an answer?

I wanted to know what people thought on Argos's stance that the day you bought an item/had it delivered counted as day 1 out of the 30 days in which to return said item and wouldn't budge on their interpretation of their policy! Seems people are split on this with no defining right or wrong answer!  Oh and FYI I am and have been out of the country for a month - not that I needed to explain my absence from a discussion board!!
