Clarity needed over Argos 30 day return policy

Its not stingy, given it is above and beyond what the are obliged to give you by law. Given the mentality you have on returns you cant shop at many independent stores then due them only giving you basic rights for returns!

All I was saying is that it seems nit-picky to argue over a difference of 1 day. I understand that many companies will give you much less, but the bigger players are usually relatively generous. I’m not saying they shouldn’t do it, just that if they do we will vote with our feet. There are many other retailers that are not quite so absolute with their rules, so I will continue to use them for as long as they take that line.

Feel free to call my “mentality” into question though, I did expect that type of response here, it’s the nature of the beast.

Absoolutely. I think people don’t seem to get that you don’t buy something in the absolute first second of the day, it’s usually at some point during the day, and possibly even just before closing. With the logic of some people here if you bought something 5 minutes before closing time then the first day of your return period is 5 minutes long. Obviously it should be 24 hours, until the same time next day, and so on. But as I was trying to allude in my post was that allowing a period to the end of the last day (thus giving maybe a few hours extra on top of the 30 days ) would be the fairest method, but obviously different companies have different ways of looking at it. You pays your money and you takes your chances.

Sorry where are you getting 1 day after, the Op posted the Argos T&Cs as "The policy states 'If you've changed your mind and need to return an item, you have 30 days from the date of purchase or date of receipt if delivered, to return your item(s)."

It clearly says 30 days from DATE of purchase so again where is the confusion, its 30 days from purchase date and NOT 30 day from the day after purchase

I'd raised the hypothetical question in the nested quotes above, in an attempt to use actual logic to move the dialogue on from the unhelpful 'it just is, duh' posts!  If one accepts that 'one day from the date of purchase' includes the day after the purchase, then it's an obvious logical progression from there that '30 days from the date of purchase' also extends to the thirtieth day after the date of purchase.  So, to repeat the above question again, what do you believe 'one day from the date of purchase' would signify?

But it doesn't say that thou does it, but to answer you question 1 day from date of purchase would the next day return. buy today return tomorrow.  I know what you're angling at and it still doesn't mean the 30 days starts a day after purchase. You can argue the point as much as you like 30 day from date of purchase means exactly that, from date of purchase. If you feel you have a strong case start a court claim.
