I pay EDF by 'budget Direct Debit monthly' which should mean they pay it into my bank account.

I Logged onto my energy account yesterday, to submit meter reading, and noticed they had credited it to my energy account and not paid it into my bank account - so worth a check to see if this has happened.
Had the same happen to me. They credited my EDF account with 66£. My bill was generated the 7th and I expected the bill amount to be reduced by 66. However it wasn't. Called them up and they said the money that was credited to my EDF account will be sent to my bank account directly.

Think about it. Everybody will get it credited into their energy account from the government.

Then it's up to each energy supplier how they give this to the customer, either by lowering the DD by £67 or taking the normal DD and refunding £67 separately to bank accounts.

How about if I don't want my DD lowered or a credit in my account, I just want to use the energy payment for energy ?

Then you can make an additional payment into your energy account.  The suppliers had enough of a problem implementing this at fairly short notice and can't be expected to comply with each individual's wish of how they would like it paid.  The way it is being done means that the rebate can be used however you want to - electricity, coal, gas, logs, oil, wood pellets, candles, beer or wild women !

Never associate with idiots on their own level, because, being an intelligent man, you'll try to deal with them on their level - and on their level they'll beat you every time.

I have worked out that the amount I am in credit plus the total of my present DDs that I was paying for my fix for the last year  plus the £400 is about £300 less than my next years estimate so I would expect my DD to rise by £25.
