Scottish Power are sending the £66 back to my bank account once they take the direct debit
That is one of the options that some suppliers are using.
They have choices on how to best implement the scheme given their existing systems.

Eon Next - they are showing no change to my monthly payments so I am paying the same each month that I was last month (just come off a fix and now my payment is 3 times higher as is unit prices) and no indication of government discount being applied. I will give another 2 months to see if it sorts out.
What does your next payment show as through the app? I’ve not had any notification of a change but my next payment is £66 lower.

My next payment shows as the same as I have been paying last month - they are identical. I will give them time as I realise it is a new thing for the companies to do and problems are bound to occur.

Octopus have said on twitter they intend to credit £66/£67 around about 8th ish of each month

This is essentially a vetting process carried out by the banking industry that ensures that any company using direct debits complies with a set of rules, including:

    • Informing you at least ten working days before any changes to the amount, frequency or date of your direct debit are made

This actually says that "If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your Direct Debit the organisation will notify you (normally 10 working days) in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed.

Some Companies have introduced their own rules reducing the notice period - don't know about Octopus however,
With Octopus it is at least 5 days as per the T&C, the notification email is sent before each DD payment is processed and shows the amount due to be taken.and the date it will be processed.
I can imagine in the current circumstances there may be a little cross-over for some if the DD was reduced after the email was sent for very early October DD payments.

If only: total silence from Octopus on everything from DD changes; EBSS and EPG. I did provide them with some feedback and I got a standard email back (devoid of any useful information) telling me how proud they were of their customer service.

Edit: I have just noticed that the £66 credit has just been added to My Account.
  • The £66 went onto my Octopus account today too. It shows as "HM Government Discount Energy Bills Support Scheme"
  • Anyone seen anything from EDF?  I cannot see any credit added to my account or any change to the next DD payment due at the end of the month.

My direct debit came out on the 3rd (due to the 1st being a weekend day) and I got the email informing me of the new value of the direct debit on the 26th, so they met their T&Cs.
Dolor seems to have missed their email this month (or it has been missed by Octopus).
  • @superkoopauk, read the website !

If you pay DD Whole Amount Monthly then a credit will be added to your account and the next bill reduced accordingly.

If you pay a monthly fixed DD then that will be taken as normal (no reduction in amount) and the £66/67 support payment refunded directly to the BANK ACCOUNT from which you pay.
