What coaxial cable?

I've moved into a house where my coaxial TV cable doesn't fit, despite it having both male/female connectors. Seems the connection isn't long enough to attach onto it. Could someone please advise what I need to connect up to this?

That looks like a satellite cable connection not a TV co-axial one.0

That's interesting because I don't think there's a satellite at this house! Only an aerial in the loft. Maybe the previous owners had a satellite.400ixl said:That looks like a satellite cable connection not a TV co-axial one.
Suppose I'll start off by connecting up to this and see what happens, because there's not another coax aerial connection from what I can see.
I think I need a male screw-in Type F connector maybe, anyone know?
They all seem to be push in male connectors though... Think I need screw-in on the male input?0 -
Are you in a cable TV area? Looks like the connector my dad has in his house (from memory).0

I'm not sure as I just moved to the area. Is there any way to check? What type of cable TV? The online checkers suggest I don't have Virgin cable TV in the area.Bigphil1474 said:Are you in a cable TV area? Looks like the connector my dad has in his house (from memory).0 -
Someone's suggested this cable adapter:

So I'll give that a try and see what happens0 -
F connectors are often used when there is an amplifier/active splitter in the loft and its power supply is downstairs. The power supplies tend to use F connectors.
You may find that the previous occupier has taken the power supply with them!1 -
Oh great, haha. I'll see what happens when connecting up to it first, and if no good... do you know what kind of power supply it would I need?Mister_G said:F connectors are often used when there is an amplifier/active splitter in the loft and its power supply is downstairs. You would have to look at the aerial and wiring and see if there is an amplifier somewhere. If there is then you need one suitable for that amplifier so you would need to look it up for the specs.Chris4 said:
