Descrabled, thank you. I rebuked myself the moment after I pressed send and read the previous post! And of course I totally concur your comment about reading, and saving all the small print and T&Cs before signing up to anything. Sometimes a forum can help point you in the right direction before committing to a lengthy read, which was what I was doing. But thank you.

I was accepted for a barclays account on Wednesday, however, I'm unable to setup a Payee (get an error message that the app needs to be setup which takes 4 days) and can't turn on blue rewards (error code: UD001). Is anyone else having the same issues?0

How did you register for online banking without a debit card?ischris85 said:I was accepted for a barclays account on Wednesday, however, I'm unable to setup a Payee (get an error message that the app needs to be setup which takes 4 days) and can't turn on blue rewards (error code: UD001). As the message suggests, it takes around 4 (working) days after initial account creation until all features (payments out, Open Banking etc) are enabled.ischris85 said:I was accepted for a barclays account on Wednesday, however, I'm unable to setup a Payee (get an error message that the app needs to be setup which takes 4 days) and can't turn on blue rewards (error code: UD001). So you will need to wait, around 4 days, before you can setup a payee, and then probably longer before you can enable Blue Rewards, as the qualifying £800 payment in will need to be confirmed by their systems.

Sounds to me like you're not set up properly yet. It's been a long time since I set up online banking with Barclays but I'm surprised you've been able to do that so quickly - you normally have to wait for a temporary password or pin to be sent through the post, but I guess this may have changed in recent years. In order to prove your identity and make new payments (etc) you'll need to use their PIN Sentry system - either via their pin/card machine or via the banking app, which is presumably why you're getting the first error message you mentioned.ischris85 said:I was accepted for a barclays account on Wednesday, however, I'm unable to setup a Payee (get an error message that the app needs to be setup which takes 4 days) and can't turn on blue rewards (error code: UD001). I have had a few other (app only) accounts that require an activated debit card before payments can be setup.ischris85 said:

Often it is part of the proof of address checks.
IIRC Barclays don't need you to have the physical card (no activation as such) but do take few days to complete their security checks.1 -

I applied online but cannot register for online banking or for the app until I have my debit card number.0 -
would this account accept/pay DD's?
edit: i suspect not as there's no way of listing DD's on the account like the current account
