Doesn't stop anyone checking the actual register and tracing people etc - debt collectors for examplegiraffe69 said:Given that you can register so your name is opted out to avoid being on the marketing list of every man and his dog I cannot imagine what the problem is. It is not as if you are forced to vote in any event and it is a painless process.0 -
ID to vote is one of the changes coming in - no longer be able to just give a name and address at the polling station.born_again said:
Voter ID requirements should then be in place for local elections in England May 2023 and at any UK Parliamentary election held after that date.

I looked into this as I don't have any of the appropriate photo ID. Its not free when you have to get to the Council offices, pay parking, and get back again. Plus - apparently if you do this your ID details stay on a computer in the Cabinet Office for 10 years (bits get deleted at 1month, a year and then the majority stays there for a decade). Apparently you can do it "online", unfortunately my ex created such anxiety issues in me around computers that I avoid them like the plague. I, now, don't have a vote. So why should I be on the Electoral Register?Andy_L said:
No, as you will be able to get a "free voter card"mjm3346 said:Wonder if you can use not having photo id as a reason not to register as it will soon stop you voting in person0 -
You can apply by post by downloading the forms and printing them to complete and send by post.
If you cannot download/print then a friend or your local library may be able to do it for you.
