Octopus changing my Meter Reading date !

I took my energy readings last night like millions of others probably and submitted them onto my Octopus on line account.    Within hours the readings and bill was issued with the reading date being stated as "29th September" despite the fact that I submitted them on the 30th September!!

Are Octopus trying to steal a day's price increase on my usage since any watts I used yesterday on 30th September will now be included in the price increase ?    Has anyone else found this ?

Meter readings used for billing purposes are ‘taken’ at midnight. My guess is that you will see an estimated reading used for the tariff change. Alternatively, submit another reading now.

Octopus always treat customer meter readings as applying at the end of the previous day.

Agreed and always has been that way with Octopus.
Leodogger If accuracy is important to you submit further meter readings today (1st October) which will be used as the closing meter readings for the 30th September and the opening readings for the 1st October.
Don't believe all that Martin Lewis and the media/press tells you.  :D

That hardly seems fair, since the increase starts from your previous reading, if read before the increase.

    Sorry, you've lost me.
    • If you submitted a meter reading on the 31st of August, it would be treated as being on the 30th
    • If your next reading is on the 30th of September, it's treated as being on the 29th.
There's 30 days between readings, whether 31st-to-30th or 30th-to-29th. What exactly isn't fair?

I always submit my readings on the 1st* and select 'today', which gives me whole calendar month bills - so today's reading & submission will result in a bill covering 1st to the 30th of September, inclusive.
You have (I think?) seven days to submit, so you could take them today, but submit them at some point first week (If their website had crashed, for example), selecting today's date as part of the submission.

(*unless there is a price change on a date other than the 1st...)

I submitted my reading on 30th September but according to people on here that reading would have been applied at midnight on 29th September meaning any energy I used on 30th September would be included in the next meter reading which would be costed at the increased rate (presumably!).

Increased rates don't start until the 1st, so the 30th usage will be estimated, and use previous rates, I would think?

Octopus will (or should) estimate a meter reading for the 30th. They'll charge for one day at the old rates and the rest of the period at the new rates.
What happened back in April? Do you have your bill from then, and what does it show?
