What makes one electric toothbrush "say £100+ any better than one say £20" ?

I understand if you buy a car you get a choice of engines, interior trim etc. But why do electric toothbrushes vary so much in price?

Choice of engines is very much up there in toothbrushes.

    And they type of battery.

Method of charging, longevity of components, quality of brushhead, speed, packaging, marketing, and testing. The better brushes often have a bit of research behind them that shows them to be effective.

    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

How often do you leave your electric toothbrush on charge? The manual says a full charge of 12 hrs should get you 20 mins. I am just interested to know whether people put their electric brush on charge everyday or does it once a week? Boots are doing some good deals. Thanks

Just found out that the new one, oral -b professional care 5000XL has a flashing light when being charged , is that the normal. It's very annoying, I wonder whether it will stop when the charge has been completed. I think it is a good buy at £17.49. Thanks

Our Oral B has the same light, it does not go out when charging stops. I charge it about once a week but it can last for much longer.

Argos had half price deals (or similar) when i bought mine which i think is the 7000, was about a month ago.

i charge mine every three weeks (roughly) i tend to be quite disorginised in this and generally have it run out mid way through brushing, this is a real pain as manual brushing with an electric brush is hard work. does any one know if there is a brush with a battery indicator on it. i may well consider this, if available, when old brush expires (8 years old, poor old brush.)
