EV charging tariffs

If your charging so infrequently are you sure IO or any EV tariff is worth it ?born_again said:Switching to IO once Ohme charger fitted next week.
2 EV's now, but even then looking at mileage at moment one will need charging once every 2 weeks & other even less.
Given running down to 10% & charging to 80%1 -

I don't see a downside to getting ultra-cheap electricity for between 4 and 7 hours. It's pretty trivial to shift some big loads into the off-peak window and save significantly. Go/Intelligent don't have a price premium for peak usage these days.0 -
Plenty of Octo customers who do not charge all that much have changed from Go/Intelligent to Tracker Tariff in the knowledge when Tracker T gets more expensive can change back to EV tariff.Petriix said:

Hi all, I've been looking at switching to the Eon Next Drive tariff to benefit from the 7 hours overnight rate. This may be a silly question but all their material refers to the reduced price for charging your EV overnight - will I also get the night time rate on nights when I'm not charging the car (I normally charge around 45kw one night per week) but am using the dishwasher, washing machine, etc? Do they have some way of separating car charge versus normal stuff? Thanks.0

Did the maths & it is well worth it..
Even more so as daughter is going to have to go to the office more often.
Flex rate 29.26p
IO rate 29.56p & 7.5 for 6 hours & more times as & when Octopus decide.
SC same.
So 0.5p kWh difference day rate
Last night 1 car charged 37.4kWh = £2.92 On Flex rate that would be £10.94.
Pre EV average monthly usage is sub 200 kWh which will be a extra £1.00 if all was day time. So as you can see ££ in.Life in the slow lane1 -
Yes over flex rate its better, but how about over octopus tracker ? Rate today for me is 18.88p. You would have to do the sums but it may work out cheaper overall as your non EV charging usage will be significantly cheaper, possibly offsetting the amount you save over the infrequent charging of the EV.born_again said:

This is the point I was making, not saying it will, depends entirely on your usage and if you can shift usage to take advantage of the cheaper IO rates or not.
Now of course tracker is variable each day and could go quite high but you can always switch away as @bristolleedsfan says.0 -
Yes, it is just a dual rate tariffOurManInEngland said:Hi all, I've been looking at switching to the Eon Next Drive tariff to benefit from the 7 hours overnight rate.
