  • As a matter of interest, have alterations to E7 fixes already announced by other suppliers generally kept the same sort of balance between day and night rates?

    The answer is, "it depends".
For some suppliers yes, they have kept a similar balance. Octopus seems to be in this camp.
For others - I'm thinking of EDF here - they have discounted each rate by the same monetary amount. This has made the night rate relatively cheaper and the day rate relatively more expensive (although still cheaper than it would otherwise have been).

Mine went from 59p/kWh to 43p/kWh the day after I was on it, so as expected really.
Now I'm on the SVT, so it's more like 33p/kWh.
Standing charge was 1p/day cheaper on my fix.

The fun thing is, they applied the £66 discount to my fix, and have removed it now I'm on the SVT, so wondering if I'll actually get that now.

So on twitter now they've told me my unit rate will decrease by 17.85p. I said to them that even with that decrease it wouldn't be near EPG -

"That would make my new unit rate higher than the epg. Is that correct? So the rates aren't being amended to be in line with epg as even with the 17.85p decrease my new rate will be higher?

    V20 fix
    60.08 / 42.24 - elec
    15.09 / 27.22 - gas

    With 17.85p reduction
    43.08 / 42.24
    10.89 / 27.22

    Energy price guarantee rates
    34 - Elec
    10.3 - gas"

    Their reply was-

    Your current rates are actually;

    42.23/42.24
    10.66/27.22

    without the reduction.

    24.38/42.24
    6.23/27.22

    With the reduction.

I haven't questioned it but surely this is incorrect as its much lower than epg and I don't know why he would have said my current rates are 42.23 and 10.66 out of nowhere? When I know the fix I agreed to was 60.08 and 15.09.

    What a s**tshow this is

42.23 and 10.66 are your new rates, not your old ones.
It seems that if you want the full benefit of the EPG you will need to exit your fix.

Yeah so the 42.23 and 10.66 are with the reduction whereas the sainsbury guy seems to think that's pre-reduction, so has given me wrong info?

Yes, completely wrong, mine was 43.something after the reduction (59p before), so I cancelled my forthcoming fix to drop onto the SVT which will be cheaper.

The original tarrif rate now shows a reduction to around 42p and 10.55p.
They said on the phone today this will again be reduced to the EPG figs when they work through everything, they have been busy. It was mentioned it would happen as shown below. "Nothing needed to be done", time will tell. 🤔

Yeah, cheers but nah, I will stick with yes,  thank you and no.

    Thank you.
