*slides in quickly to wish Valli a happy birthday!
I'm late in, as usual! Thank you ladies for the lists.
We had a weekend filled with family visitors, who were all fed & watered. So today has consisted of resetting the house (especially the kitchen) and food shopping. We dropped a boot load of toys at DD2'S workplace (SEN school) that had been donated by the childminding group that is no longer running. It was given to me on Thursday, but I hadn't brought it indoors in case it took root here!
I have also cleared off the side board and cleaned it, decluttered the drawer that was getting filled up, dusted the mantlepiece and wiped the DR table. I then settled down to some knitting - I am making DGS a jumper 😊 I finished his dinosaur mobile yesterday 😁 Go me! I don't usually finish these projects and I have done several this year!!
Hugs, sticks & spoons to those that need them. Night night everyone! 🌙 💤10 -

Morning lovelies, in laws have not gone back to the homeland and we now have friends coming for a few days which I'm very excited about. Not sure what we'll do but it will involve food, wine and walks. DD1 flat needs quite a bit of attention so I guess we might be up there quite a bit.
GWS wishes to all those who aren't so good. and congratulations to all of you for being brilliant, especially those of you who hae been extra brave recently!
Don't forget those SMILES11 -
Morning all,
Belated birthday wishes to Valli x
Iona, are you ok, my lovely? x
Narc0, I have office tidying envy. DH bought a new laptop about 6 weeks ago, as our old one needs winding up, it is so slow. As far as I know, the new one is still untouched. Ditto the printer, which I was instructed to buy a couple of weeks ago, and which has now taken up residence on the landing, it seems.
It’s my usual Tuesday morning day-off frenzy here. Work really wanted me in, but they didn’t actually ask outright, and then DH announced that he was going to the office after Mr M was already scheduled to deliver, so here I am still at home. I had my first full night’s sleep for ages, since I can’t remember when. After yet more nights of max 3 hours, I remembered that DD had some OTC tablets, took one last night, and (probably all in my mind), a full night’s sleep was had. It felt so luxurious waking up at a reasonable time!
Today’s list includes:
strip bed ✅
run wm - in progress
remake bed
dry and tame hair, so that it is not so scary for…
…friend coming for coffee
clean bathrooms
dust and vac as far as I get
HH admin
There is more, but that’s enough for now.
Have a lovely day everyone, hugs, sticks and spoons available as needed x10 -
Thank you all for the birthday wishes - I do love being part of this community.
The chemo is kicking in…I feel ‘not quite right’. And I had a funny taste in my mouth yesterday so I cracked open the chewing gum…I’m not normally a chewer.
DD will be exhausted tonight, so I need to pace myself so I can make tea. I’m going to work because the cafe is hired out, but I won’t need to do a 6 hours shift.
DW x 1. We now have clean mugs. WM x 1
i need a brave - I have to give myself an injection daily for 5 days starting today, to boost my immune system.Basically I need spare braves and spare spoons. I will trade for dog sticks for black dogs.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear11 -
Valli... No need to send dog sticks as I only have cats.. but you can have my brave... I bailed on a hospital appointment which is in about 5 minutes.. and you can have my spoons too.. I will sit and knit for the day, just 2 spoons needed for school run and one for cooking dinner.. you are welcome to the rest.
I feel like carp today.. my stomach is really playing up.

Valli, have my sticks, and no need for braves for me today, as I’m staying firmly put at home. You can have my supply of those as well. Once the first injection is out of the way, I’m sure that you will use less braves for the next one. Those Exceedingly small lemon topped cake slices were a solution for DD when taste was strange, and easy on the swallowing too. xx
Clean washing now hanging indoors as it is raining. Going to see if NDN wants to trade beans for the cooking apples which she gave DH yesterday. I got the best end of the deal, imo.9 -
Hello all, hope you're all well. Been missing again!
We have a lamb with new forest eye, no I'd never heard of it either till last week. She looks as if she has cataracts in both eyes and is unable to see. Easy to treat, if you can catch her! Sheep don't like being caught, they are ten times worse when they are blind! The pigs found another potential escape route, burying the electric wire to earth it, then lifting two lots of fencing. Luckily we caught them before they got out. We've sorted the electric fence again, put a piece of tin behind the, now replaced, fence and backfilled with rocks and boulders.
DD2 and her hubby and DGS2 have been down to stay, so did a huge Tesco shop to make use of her staff discount, shopping and putting away took all morning.
Been to the dentist for a filling to be replaced.
Builders are here to fix the barn roof that was taken our by storm Eunice. We had to empty one room in the barn and take out the ceiling, the hay loft floor above. The joists, and boarding were all rotten.
Add to this, DGD2 off school with chicken pox, and all the general eating, cooking, weeding, etc. and it's been a busy few days.
Hopefully back to, what counts for, normal now.
I was thinking when doing the pig run, most of the jobs we do around the farm require two people, or more. "How on earth does ASB manage alone?" Then i read the post where you said you'd replaced the kitchen chimney pot. Not quite so worried about you now.
Glad your daughter got sorted pigpen, hope Mr iona gets well soon, happy belated birthday Valli. Hugs to everyone else, whether needed or not, (I read along and then forget who's posted what), mumtoomany.xxxFrugal Living Challenge 2025.11 -
Morning all. Yes, Fayolle, I'm OK thank you, just a bit sad that I wasn't able to get to share another milestone in DS2's life yesterday or visit my nephew and his wife today.
Thankfully DH remained lucid yesterday, but a very nice Dr came out to see him because he couldn't have managed to walk out to the car here, let alone get from the car park into the surgery. By lunchtime DH had kickstarted his recovery with a double dose of antibiotics, and he's down to single doses from today. He said he was hot and cold all night, and he's still a bit wobbly this morning, but he's managing to eat, so I expect he's on the mend slowly.
We had The Conversation over breakfast about making a decision on whether he's going to be fit enough to travel south on Thursday for the Grandparents' Tea and 2 nights chez DD. At present it looks as if I will go on my own, Rosie will go to kennels as booked, and DH will stay home alone - he has promised that he would not even think about going to war games club on Friday night. I already have some frozen ready meals in stock (was thinking ahead for when I go into horse piddle) so at least I don't have to worry about meal planning for one.
I am still sorting odds and ends of admin, shredding and binning paper rubbish. The job that I started this morning wasn't actually on my list but will help to make life easier, I hope.
In other Flying news, I have
- hoovered through downstairs
- emptied the bagless thingy
- wiped round the bathroom hand basin
- sprayed round the shower
- S&S'd the kitchen
I must go and buy myself a new winter jacket. Slinky has not been here for a very long time, and none of my old coats or jackets - apart from the dog walking one and a bright yellow puffer jacket which is only suitable for cheerful, informal occasions - will do up.
Braves and spoons coming your way, Valli xx
Hope everyone has a good day xxx

Morning all
back from a fab, sunny holiday, unfortunately then I was struck down with a lurgy so last week spent being kind to myself and doing minimal amounts of flying. Back to strength this week and will be following along in my own way. Today so far…- DW emptied
- Airer emptied of dry clothes and HHI done
- Bed made
- Windows opened for a while and shut again as it’s cold and raining!
- First stint of paid stuff done
2 deliveries expected this afternoon, I only have 1 meeting so they are almost guaranteed to arrive then, tomorrow is an in office day so I need to prep for that!
hugs to all, sticks, spoons etc available as needed x
