This week we have used on average £2.20 electric/ 62p gas including standing charges per day. Our electric usage has truly dropped recently - we started cutting back gas use last winter but this year we are taking the below measures as our electric was 4000units last year! 😔 (3bed open plan detached)
    1. installed a sealed door/stud wall in the space of what used to be our open plan kitchen/dining room/ lounge
    2. bought a large air fryer & slow cooker. We love stews, roast dinners, and our electric dbl oven was on more than off last year. We use nothing now but the air fryer/slow cooker now and haven’t used the oven in months. They use so much less energy!
    3. I WFH so moved my office into walk in wardrobe upstairs instead instead of kitchen alcove where we had to heat the entire downstairs all winter last year so I was warm enough whilst working. New office space is about 8x10’ & Thermal gain from sunny window & even warmth from computer tower contribute - I’ve got an M&S Snuggle & an oil heater if those prove not to be enough when it’s properly cold.  But it’s a dinky space to heat compared to an entire open plan downstairs!
    4. Bought a clothes line and plan washing days when the weather is dry. Tumble dryer only used for bedding/towels.
    5. We haven’t used our boiler for heating as yet this autumn - all of us been wearing our Snuggles & using the multi burner in lounge which effectively heats the whole house really. Once we do start to use the gas boiler (no sooner than October 1st unless it freezes) then it will go on for one hour in morning, one hour at lunch & then only using multi burner in lounge in evenings - no gas used for heating at all after lunch hour.  We did only use the multiburner in the evenings as well last year and it worked very well - reduced our gas usage by more than 1/2 last year (10k units). Hoping for even better this year as will not be heating downstairs this year all day. Wood is supplied in van loads from our very reasonably priced tree surgeon which we season for 1.5 years in our wood sheds.

Rounded to the nearest penny, 90p for electricity (plus 16p SC) and 4p for gas (plus 18p SC).
In terms of KWh, that is 4.71KWh for electricity and 1.09KWh for gas - Averaged across the month from my last bill.

Mine is between £3 and £4 according to the smart meter and I’ve had the heating on part of the day.  The house is a small 3 bed detached with 10 rads. Can expect this to double in cold weather - what do you think?

I can tell you it cost me today (day 24th) 68p for my electricity and 26p for the gas these numbers include standing charges.

Monday (26th September) it will cost me £1.47 for electricity and 50p for gas (including standing charges).

House is a mid terraced with 6 radiator's....What do you think?

How do you know how much you will use tomorrow?
It's pretty much the same every day, day in day day out. Jumps up .3 kWh's when I do a wash but that's it.
My day is like groundhog day.

Probably better to think in daily kwh usage .
Since last May I have averaged at 4.5  kwh of  electric and less than 2 gas daily  kwhs  .
. In the last 6 weeks or so I was cutting back even further to make room for the horror of 51 pence  a kwh electric and 14 p kwh of gas and usage has been 3 .3 kwhs of electric and under 1 kwhs a day on gas .

Pressure is off now with help we are getting of £400 off the electric plus as an OAP an extra £300 winter payment which is going to my gas account in November .
I haven t yet put the central heating on but I think I will crack by the time Oct 1 st comes

Sitting in a tshirt here at 5am, so thankfully for me I am still a long way away from wishing for heating to be on.

How do some people run their houses on 3kw per day
    Baseload for a house is about 100wph x 24hours = 2.4kw

Just looked at my Loop and throughout September to date I’ve used only 73 kWh of electricity and 14 kWh of gas.

I've average 2.7 kWh's for September, there is only my daughter and I in the house which is a big start, more people use more energy. I also have gas so no heating water or the house through electricity.

The only item that is on all day every day is the FF, the kettle gets boiler once a day, no microwave, and currently only lighting to go on is the living room at 7-8pm.
I don't have many electrical items and when not in use they are turned off at the wall which when I turned them all off at the wall last September to see how much energy it would save, it saved 1-1.3 kWh's a day.

So 13+ months ago I was averaging just over 4kwhs a day. For the last 12 month's excluding this month (September) I averaged 3.3 kWh's a day, then at the start of September I replaced my 11y/o 46"LCD TV with a 42" LCD which ha saved me 600 Watt's a day bring me down to the 2.7 kWh's.

We're at £2.50-£3/day at the moment, dual fuel. It's a lot higher at weekends, esp rainy weekends, when we're home and cooking and doing the washing, etc ... but no heating on yet. Dreading price hike+ heating coming all at the same time. I've also just committed quite a lot of money to replace all our ancient rads, many of which can't be individually controlled and are too small for the rooms. This of course means last winter the boiler had to work really hard to get us warm despite good insulation (which I do need to improve some more as well) and we were heating rooms we didn't need to heat. Offsetting the installation of the new rads will likely take a few years but will make the monthly costs less horrific,  I HOPE.
