Owner left hole in wall?

I wonder why that hole was made? What was removed from that hole?
The hole is old, so it was like that when contracts were exchanged, and the sellers would have been in breach of contract if they had fixed that feature between exchange and completion?!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Happens I am afraid - I have had houses with several things like this (speakers removed with wires and holes left, - shelves removed that weren't painted behind, section of skirting board removed to put fireplace in - which had then been removed and sofa put in front)
one of those things2 -

We have a hole in the wall in the lounge. Where they had all the wiring for a wall mounted TV. We don't have a wall mounted TV so the hole is just there. We will get around to fixing it at some point. But it isn't something you can ask the previous owners to do.Debt free Feb 2021 🎉1

What should we do now? Surely the previous owner can't just leave that hole and expect us to be fine with it?I think they've already decided it will be more trouble for you to chase them about it than getting it fixed. If you are up for home ownership in an MSE way, look at videos about filling holes in plasterboard walls. If you can physically get to the other side, it won't be very hard.

The house is meant to be in the same condition as at exchange. As there was furniture in front of the hole, I suspect it was there all along. You'd need to prove that it wasn't there at exchange, which sounds unlikely.
How are you planning to lay out the room? I'd probably just put some furniture there too and not bother fixing it.2 -
