Bloody hells bells......

Feb 2021 I asked my supplier to change frome econ 7 to single rate. I got the due to covid blah blah message. Since then I've called and emailed and live chat several times to never ever get a reply to my question of what tariffs I can be offered. I'm paying 30p per kwh currently!

I'm with sse

I've contacted the ombudsman as I want to be rebated the extra per kwh from Feb 2021 when I requested but I just get no response from sse

No sure what to do

Unless you've raised a formal complaint with SSE and received a Deadlock letter, the Energy Ombudsman aren't going to do anything. What to do if you want to go down this route is to raise a formal complaint.

However, @[Deleted User] has asked many pertinent questions if would be helpful if you could answer for people here to potentially help you.

Oh, and I'm currently paying 38 p per kWh for electricity so you shouldn't be viewing what you're paying as somehow shocking.

What do you mean "the extra"?

You say you're still on E7, and yet you quote only a single number for your current cost.  E7 has two rates, day and night.

If you've been on a standard tariff that whole time, then you've been paying the capped price for quite some time.  I don't think you're going to get a rebate or compensation for being on the standard capped tariff.

How much less do you think you would have paid if you had been on single rate SVT rather than E7 SVT?  Have you worked that out?

Why did you try to move from E7 to single rate?  Did you have storage heaters removed or something?
I had storage heaters removed as they were old  and I was hardly using any electric on the night rate. About 20% at most. I've not worked it out as they won't send me my usage per year. I have raised a formal complaint to which they said they would get back to in in 5 - 10 days. That was 15 days ago
  • What do you mean they won't send you usage?  Have you had a bill?  Usage is written on there.  Surely there must be some meter readings from the last eighteen months.

You really need to collect some actual details to work out what loss you have suffered.

If you've only just put a formal complaint in to the supplier, then you're months away from from being able to go to the Ombudsman.

If you have a look at your bill it should tell you the estimated annual consumption. If you post on here what that is for day & night + the tariff prices you’re paying now for both rates, I’m sure some kind soul on here will work out if you’ve overpaid or not & by how much.

All bills, mine do, should state the estimated annual usage somewhere on the bill, in my case the are under the about your tariff at the side of the page.
Someone please tell me what money is

if you don't know your usage (which is easily calculated from your bills a year apart, or shown on your annual statement), then how do you know that you were only using 20% on night rate? You can't deduce that from a single quarterly bill, you need to see a full year?
At 20%, E7 is unlikely to be the best option, but it's not impossible-it depends on your usage and tariff rates.
If you come off E7 then you'll be offered SVT under the EPG: there are no other tariffs worth considering at present, and won't be for two years.

  • Thanks everyone. The last paper bill I got was pre covid. As much as I ask in email or txt chat they won't send me any and it was then that it was calculated I only use 20% of the cheaper e7 tarrif

have you gone to their website to look at your account? all of your bills should be there but you might need to register if you haven't already.
