Does Duvet Brand Matter?

I take my to our local laundrette or if warm I wash it myself in the machine - it is a faff though.0

Washing a super-kingsize duvet is really difficult, but I have discovered a laundromat with massive machines (up to 18kg) at a nearby service station. It's a part of a chain and I don't know how much of the country it covers, but they have 600 sites. https://www.revolution-laundry.com/en-uk/

If people are getting rid of duvets I think Dunelm recycle them. You have to take them to the store though.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)2

Many animal rescue centres will accept polyester-filled duvets for dog bedding.

I can recommend the spundown duvets by Fine Bedding:LittleMax said:For those advocating spending a lot on a good quilt can I ask about how you get them cleaned? Buying a new cheap duvet is usually the same cost or even less. I want to stop the throwaway - but not sure I can afford expensive duvet plus expensive cleaning costs.

I have the king size all season one, which is actually two separate duvets that fit together with poppers. It's great because you can have the 4.5 tog one for summer, the 9 one for spring/autumn and both together for winter. They each fit in my normal washing machine no bother and wash and dry very well. I also find that they're light and fluffy, so they mould around you - I've also found cheaper duvets to be stiff and "gappy", letting draughts in - and they're not rustle-y either.0 -
One handy trick is to have a flat sheet underneath the duvet/quilt as well as a quilt cover. It doesn't mean you never have to wash the duvet, but a double layer of protection will cut down the number of times you'll need to wash it.LittleMax said:For those advocating spending a lot on a good quilt can I ask about how you get them cleaned?1
