@JingsMyBucket - here's the link to the Ottolenghi hamper page Ottolenghi Hampers | Ottolenghi I warn you that it's an extremely deep rabbit hole as well as very likely to lighten your purse!
I had to do a top-up shop in M*rks yesterday and spent £10.93 on 4x organic milk, 1kg f/f greek style yoghurt, cheddar cheese, coriander, 3x radishes and an indulgent tub of YS single cream.
That makes my total spend this month £14.93/£133.30 and my average daily spend £3.73.
I've got some flapjacks in the oven at the moment for this afternoon's walking group which looks as though it will be wet, wild and windy so I'm not looking forward to that but am pleased that I haven't had to buy any extra ingredients.6 -
Soontobeoap said:Oh dear. DH has gone off meatballs as I have changed the sauce!! Maybe i am cutting back on shop bought sauces too much, putting too much carrot in to bulk up the meatballs or its just ny home made meatballs! Whatever it is i will have to try and overcome the problem as I still have 32 left!!!!! 😅🤣.
I guess if this was straight forward it wouldnt be a challenge! 🤷♀️.
I have updated signature after Tesco shop arrived today.
Option 2 is to put a portion on a small oven proof pan (mine are cast iron dishes), pre cook them for a few minutes and add a few large bits of cooked pasta (conchiglioni or Ragatoni) and top with a bit of tomato sauce and grated cheese, then grill/bake for about 15 minutes and serve the hot pan on a boardSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Afternoon all, first grocery spend of October today. Managed to avoid it by eating out of the freezer quite a bit and we’ve all been a bit poorly so not much enthusiasm for eating much.
Anyway £39.67 spent in L!dl, really this was the kind of shop where you don’t really have anything to show for it. Nappies/wipes/cereals etc. A few Halloween treats for little one and she picked a little tiny pumpkin so she’s happy with that 😆
This weeks remaining meals will be:
• bacon tomato spaghetti
• chicken curry from the freezer
• roast chicken
• chicken pies using leftovers5 -
Frugal Thymes, those oat bars sound yummy.
Since the start of the month I've spent £33.22 topping up the store cupboards and also got a couple of treats (Moser Roth Orange and Almond Chocolate and some rosemary crackers)To balance that I used up the last of the courgettes from the lottie in a pasta sauce with a tin of tomatoes - two portions eaten, two in the freezer.Grocery challenge 2025: £650/1500 annual budget6 -
05/10 - £9.24 spent on g&t in tins and pink fizz in tins to take on weekend away in guest house in Inverness this weekend, which will save money on drinks out.
Grocery challenge November 2022 £8.73/£160.

First shop of the month after doing a cupboard stock take and meal plan today. Had to buy a few things we normally wouldn't because my mum is coming to stay and she has some food/eating issues and sticks to 'safe foods' most of the time. I don't begrudge her that at all, but the prices of things we don't usually buy are a little *yikes*
£32.65/£200
Progress over perfection6 -
Day six of October and as yet not been near a shop or bought any groceries I am away from next Wednesday for five days so still using up the fresh stuff in the fridge at the moment.

6/30 NSDs, and £60.00 intact in my food buget purse for this month9 -
I have quite a few spends to add on (as usual!).
I had to get a few more bits for our date evening, so that was £2.53 on pizza dough, a ball of mozzarella and some pepperoni. And in another shop, £2.50 on a bag of mixed grated cheese.
Rest of the shops have mostly been YS/topping up on milk and dog food.
£7.36 on 2 YS pizzas (67p each), 2 cans of dog food, YS ready meal (52p), YS chicken for sandwiches (37p), YS pineapple (37p), YS onion and garlic dip (22p), beansprouts, 3 YS peppers (28p) and 2 packs of 8 YS pancakes (27p per pack).
£2.95 on YS pizza (55p), 3 YS baguettes (28p), 4 YS yoghurts (40p), YS pack of ham (52p), YS raspberries (39p), 1 pint YS milk (13p), YS bakery pastry (28p) and YS bakery tart (40p).
£3.68 - can't fully remember what I bought as it didn't give me a receipt, but included 4 pints of milk, a YS sandwich and some YS sushi.
£119.15/£230.6 -
Small top up shop of £12.68 although £2.89 will be refunded as I picked up something for my friend. It will come off my GC amount as everything is put on my CC to be paid off at the end of the month. Now have £236.45/£250 left (not sure of the odd pence but it's something like that! Will check when I next go onto my YNAB on the other PC - I've still got the old YNAB4 which doesn't work on my MacBook so have to use my old Windows laptop).

@JingsMyBucket thank you, I'll buy a joint of pork and slow-cook it. Then I'll slice & freeze. Hopefully That will see us through a few months.
@atrixa i hadn't thought of just roasting the root veg, thank you. I think that'll be done in the air fryer to save money on electricity. Maybe I'll chuck some sausages in too, and have almost like a sausage & root veg 'traybake' of sorts.
