Morning!
£49.52/£725 spent on groceries so far this week on top ups. A lot more than I would've liked but we are where we are. It's 'big shop' day for us today. Must focus on buying enough of what we need to avoid the trips to Tesco to 'top-up'.
We have £95.78 of the weekly £145 grocery budget left. It's going to be tight as we used most of the freezer contents up over the course of this week.
Will report back later with the new total!

The plan was not to spend but daughter insisted I had told her she could get an battery tooth brush (whilst I was still asleep)
so husband got her one and a toothpaste from work on Tuesday - £2.92. Yesterday we were in the mood for donuts, so went to morrisuns also bought some nescaf sachets and a bag of chips as 99p for 1.5kg - £5.89 spent there. Will just need some fruit, veg, milk and butter on Sunday and I’m hoping that will be it until next Friday again.
£30.35/200 spent.

Hi all, hope you're well and doing ok.
Yesterday we did our first main shop this month. Started in Lidl, spending £25.76 inc two bags of Red Worcester apples, 'fun size' (!?) or 'very small' as we see it, 95p each. Bought three bars of the cheapest dark chocolate they sell, 100g for 33p, it's vegan and 16p cheaper than the next dearer one. Tried it last night and couldn't really tell a difference; the squares are bigger but that's just the look of it.
Then we got fuel at Morrison's and nipped in for a few bits there, £7.80 inc a Plant Revolution korma sauce, 490g jar for 75p will do two meals as it freezes well.
Over the road to Aldi, £22.30 inc two bags of porridge oats 70p each, then lastly to Tesco where we paid £1 for some organic celery as it was all they had left and DH wouldn't buy the cheap celery earlier at Lidl. Maybe it'll taste better, probably not. Also got 1.25kg Maris Piper potatoes for 50p and six crumpets 35p. Total spend in Tesco was £21.76 inc £2.16 on bits for the food bank.
So the whole lot came to £77.62, which should last until around the 20th apart from a small top-up for some fresh veg.
Want to stick to budget this month, not managed it yet since I lowered it from £200. I'm sure I could do it if DH wasn't with me when I shop 😆

I totally took my eye off the ball this last week. Apparently slightly colder weather is a cue for me to feel I deserve a treat and buy a number of slight extravagances which all, of course, add up. Spiced chai tea powder, half a bottle of rum, coffee shop carrot cake and latte, coffee shop salmon bagel and green tea, large packet of kettle chips. As well as usual groceries.
£71.90 spent so far (edited as I'd left off fishcake and chips from the total)Fashion on the Ration 2025 - 1.5 coupons remaining

I have made changes to meal plan as DH Is lunching with mates today. We have had lasagna this week and I have has savoury mince with a jacket potato today. Both were lovely so I have decided that it isn’t the grated carrot that has changed flavour of my meatballs dish. It has to be the sauce so I will try a less tomatoey mix next time.
I am absolutely loving reverse planning or eating from freezer / cupboards . I think I may even be able to do it next month without too much expense. I didn’t think that I had much variety in store but have been amazed.
Meal plan
Saturday has changed to :- fry up with leftover fried potatoes, mushrooms a sausage, bacon and beans.
Sunday is still - Beef stew with leftover roast beef, using up more mushrooms, Yorkshire pud for me and dumplings for DH, roast potatoes and veg. ( this will also make me 2 soups for lunches next week)
Monday - sausages, bubble and squeak, jacket potatoes
Tuesday - Savoury mince ( batch frozen already) and rice
Wednesday - sausage and egg picnic pie with salad and chips ( this will also do a lunch or 2 for the rest of the week)
Thursday -pizza ( we play crib that night and always seek an easy meal)
Friday - cheese and ham pasta
Saturday - shepherds pie
Sunday - pasties ( home made in freezer) with veg and roast potatoes)
in theory I only need to buy bread, milk and any basics that I run out of.
signature is up to date.

So first spends of the month. £135, for the slaughter, butchering and vac packing of the pigs. Got around 150kgs, plus lungs to cook for the dog and he gave us two huge cow bones for her too. Then to Sainsburys, on the way back, to spend the nectar points. Spent £3.07 in real money. Total to date is now, £2386.09/£2640, for the year. Don't think we'll make it! Tomorrow we are meeting up with friends and eating out at a restaurant, something we haven't done since before the mess that was the last couple of years. This will come out of the entertainment budget but we are still going to have to be careful with how much we spend; we're taking cash to help keep in the budget I've set.
We are skipping the A&C delivery this week coming, however we are getting an O~box with an add on coming to £18.84.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy9 -
Market & supermarket spends adding up to £58.60 have duly been added, taking me up to £203, meaning I now have a little less than £50 for each of the Thurs/Fri "shops" left. Which will also get nibbled away by needing more coffee, which L!dls didn't have when I went at beginning of the week. Much care needed if I'm to come in on or below target!Angie - GC Aug25: £478.51/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 28/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)9
