  • Just an update..
I had my hearing yesterday and I've been sacked!

I am still shaking and can't help thinking that this is just a huge nightmare.

All I've ever done is tried to help people in debt on this site and due to a comment I made my wonderful employers have sacked me.

I can't believe it. I can't even afford a solicitor to help me try & take this further.

The 2 managers who interviewed me yesterday didn't know me, didn't even bother asking my immediate boss about me. All they were interested in was the comments I posted on here, not anything else that I have done which is positive for the company.

Please beware, that no matter how safe, or anonymous you think you are, if, like me, you have ever written anything personal about yourself, your employers will track you down. Please tell everyone you know that uses internet forums, facebook, myspace etc. to be very very careful about what they write. Even the most innocent comment can and will be used against you.
  • So sorry to hear this happened.

I wish you the very best for a wonderful future.

You poor soul. What a ridiculous move by your ex-employers. You're clearly an experienced staff member.
Just wanted to send a :grouphug:
This seems like a really heavy-handed unnecessary approach.

I'm sorry to read your news.

Could you not seek advice from the CAB on this. What exactly had you said on here to warrant a dismissal. On what grounds were you dismissed?

They must have known who to look for, did you use your computer at work? How did they track you down?

I heard a similar story on the news a few weeks ago and a young lad got sacked because of something he posted on a social networking site.... You have to be so careful these days, its like Big Brother is constantly watching you. P.s This is a negative comment about his employers though.
Heres the link to the story

Oh you poor love - I just wanted to post and send you my support, what an awful thing to have happened!

I know how it feels, as I was once sacked - completely out of the blue, and without any good reason except a personality clash with the boss. I felt like I had been run over on the day it happened - such a shock.

It took some getting over, but in the end it was the best thing that could have happened as I walked into another job 2 months later which was much much better. I was also able to sign on and claim income support straight away (as it was then), so check that out - even if you have been sacked you may still qualify for immediate benefits (you didn't steal or commit gross indecency so you should be okay!)

But for now, go and weep all over a friend and drink tea/eat chocolate (or something much stronger!) and sob a lot. Best thing for shock, sobbing a lot - it really does help!

Hugs and best wishes to you,

Sorry to state the obvious, legally there has to be a three step procedure before they can dismiss, ACAS or the CAB will give you more details.

Did you have a witness at the hearing? You also have a right of appeal, so please do so.

Please get legal advice as well.
  • Oh my gosh....can't believe the outcome. Now you've had that decision is it possible for you to give us a bit more information about what happened, so maybe some of the lovely people on here can give you some mroe detailed advice? not sure if you can or not, and don't wnat you to feel you have to, just wondered if it would help some of the people on here to give more speciffic advice.

Either way, huge hugs to you, makes me very wary of what I write on here....I'm thinking of all the things I've posted to wrok out if there's anything on their that shouldn't be.... whatever happens, hopefully when you're settled in your new job you'll find that it actually was something that although horrendous at the time, works out for the best. Good luck with the job hunt... xx

:grouphug: sorry to read your post.

Go to your CAB to ask for help with an appeal etc.
Did your union help at all?

Good luck with job hunting....maybe you could do some temp work to fill in while looking for a permanent job?

    Floss x
