Sorry, yes you did say that. My mistake.
In that case then what is the problem with your employer? I don't see why they should be like this to you.
Are you allowed to use the internet whilst at work?
Sounds to me like someone is just trying to catch you out for some reason?
Have you any ideas?Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Forgot to ask, does your employer offer a free employee legal helpline?
You could give them a try if so. Acas are very good as well.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
This kind of thing happened to me in a previous job, I took the route of being completely honest and humble, apologised profusely to everyone involved and kept my job. It annoyed the heck out of me but I have learnt to try and never say anything about anyone that could be construed as critiscism/getting involved in other people's business.
Good luck, what a rotten thing to happen just before Christmas.0 -
I have had the above conversation in my head many times, just hope I get given the chance to say it out loud. So far, I have had a formal letter, am currently off work at their insistance, and am now playing the waiting game, no-one can tell me how long their 'investigation' may take.belfastgirl23 wrote: »This is pretty miserable.
In your shoes I'd say that I thought what I posted was a positive comment, that I wasn't aware that doing so was wrong in any way and that I'm truly sorry for any problems caused for the company. I've really appreciated working for them and would very much like to continue doing so. I'd also undertake not to do this again. I'd also very much keep the discussion to any instances where you directly mention the company since other posts are private and not really any business of your employer.
PS do you know the process from here? Have you had a formal letter or just an informal talk? Do you have a date scheduled for a formal meeting?0 -

None at all. They are free to to check anything they like because they won't find anything, in the meantime, I am left feeling like a criminal.
I am unable to use the Internet at work, but, some colleagues can, I guess they need to check that the comment wasn't posted in 'their time'0 -
Tell me about it! At any time it would be bad enough, but just when everyone is getting into the party mood, I'll be keeping my head down. This kind of thing happened to me in a previous job, I took the route of being completely honest and humble, apologised profusely to everyone involved and kept my job. The 'funny' thing is that I have spent the last 4 months organising the XMAS bash next week, and I won't even be allowed to attend!0 -
ACAS phone number : 08457 47 47 47.
Please give them a ring then you will know what you need to do.
Please try not to worry, I am sure that if you have not been made aware of any rules regarding making comments on the net then you didn't know you were doing anything wrong.
It was just an honest mistake.
Hope this helps.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
This is pretty rubbish to be happening to you - i hope it al gets better and quickly!
Unfortuantely alot of employment contracts do state that company busness must remain private untill they (the big'uns) decide to let the news spill. So this could be anything from letting people know about an upcoming offer (discount code) that hasnt begun yet/is not intended for everybody or about some form of change over within the company. As an employee you may have agreed to keep all information confidential - if i were you i'd go and study your employment contract to see if this type of thing comes up anywhere. If it doesnt they dont really have the right to sack you, but if it does you may still be able to fight it. Dont give up though, if you show you are not just going to cower and let them bully you out of your job the less likely they will sack you for fear of an unfair dismissal etc etc.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
Sorry that was not intended to scare just to warn everyone to be careful - i used to work for a major bank as a customer sevice agent for their home insurance products. We were not allowed to let on about anything, nothing at all, or give discounts to anyone who werent supposed to have them, ie giving a close family member staff discount as many people tend to do - this was a sackable offense as far as they were concerned.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0
