Thanks LMD - all better now 😊.

I’m back!!! I sometimes disappear when life gets in the way but this time I was in Sri Lanka and it was so amazing and relaxing but the cold weather and jet lag kicked my B on my return this week.

The break gave me so much time to relax and get my head ready for the year ahead.  This week I stood down from a number of volunteering positions which had become a chore - when I’m ready maybe I’ll go back but with family health and work it was becoming too much for me.  It took the holiday to help with the decision and not feel guilty.

I did have a spendy day this week - the month before Xmas it was so frosty here (and I was sick), so there was no running as everywhere was slippy (I live in the country so it never gets gritted). I ran every other day
on holiday and I got my mojo back, so I bought a treadmill for my return.  I’m not a treadmill fan but it will do if I can’t get out on the roads.

So my mind is focused on clearing my debt, building some savings and less frittering.

The debt figures for 2023 are-

    Barclaycard - £1,650
    car loan - £8,956

    Total - £10,606
You need to be content with small steps. That’s all life is. Small steps that you take every day so when you look back down the road it all adds up and you know you covered some distance.
  • Sri Lanka sounds amazing! I hope you had a wonderful break.

Pressing pause on the volunteering seems sensible whilst you have other things taking precedence.

    Morning

it’s been a while and life got in the way of my diary. On the positive front I have cleared my Barclaycard but the negative is that I’m still frittering and impulse spending.  I have a few purchases to return after the weekend of clicking first and thinking later.

    Current debt
    Barclaycard - £0
    car loan - £8,186

    Total - £8,186

March is shaping up to be a busy month - I have a short trip to Liverpool next weekend, a coffee catch up, a 10k race, st paddy’s day and Mother’s Day. I also have a lot of big b’days coming up over the next few months - so what I’m really saying is that it is going to be spendy and I need to stop frittering and start putting money towards these events.

My plan is to record my NSDs and spends here in diaryland and keep checking in to my diary to keep me more accountable.

  • Well done on clearing the Barclaycard. Sri Lanka sounds lovely. I have been there so one for my list. Hope your mum is doing ok.

  • Welcome back. Life has a habit of getting in the way but the great news is that you have managed to clear that credit card! Really well done for that. Your car loan could be considered a good debt as it's an asset but I can see why you would want this gone too.
