Virgin Money Cashback Retailers?

Anyone have any ‘tracked’ cashback showing in their virgin money app under the new £160 offer?

Just wondered if anyone’s aware of any other retailers other than the standard ‘Tesco’, ‘Sainsbury’s’, ‘Asda’ and fuel stations that you can get cashback on.

There isn't a list of retailers when active.

Using it as my main card for the past couple of weeks it only appears to work at supermarkets and petrol stations, I have used the card in other stores such as B&M and McDonalds and it doesn't track.

If you want it use it for other things buy giftcards from supermarkets, they also advertise conveniant stores but if you're cashback focused it's probably easier to do it this way then to test and hope for the best.
  • The easiest way round this one is to buy £640 worth of gift cards from supermarkets you regularly use and then use them as and when you do your regular shop. I bought £100 worth of Aldi gift cards the other week and £25 cashback is showing as pending. I believe you can buy amazon gift cards in some supermarkets so you can also buy them and get the cashback that way if you wish.

Virgin has new cashback offers, recently 10% cashback from Morissons. It was already on in May, but I was away, so couldn't use it. Now there's offer until 15th of June. I made some purchases in Morrisons and I don't see any tracking and nothing in future cashback. How long does it take to track and show up anywhere?

I must say, I'm a bit disappointed, comparingt to Amex cashback which always tracked and was paid in couple of days. Virgin states it will take up to 35 days.

Virgin tracks in a few days (3-4) as the debit card transaction needs to clear first, and then I believe the cashback takes another day.

Worked fine for me in May and June. Btw, they also do a 2% or grocery spend (up to £10 pcm) so for £500 at Morissons you'd get £60 back, or 12%.

The 10% is currently available across NWG group rewards cards too.

Only 5% for me at Morrisons with Natwest.

Reminder that these offers are targeted - they may only be available for customers in certain areas, or with certain spending patterns. Morrisons for example might stipulate that customers in certain areas get one amount, or that customers with recent spend history do not receive the offer.

My RBS account has 10% but my Natwest account has nothing - presumably because I've used my Natwest Reward CC at Morrisons a couple of times in the last month.
  • I never used my Virgin debit card for anything before and to be honest I checked cashback out of curiosity and was surprised to find Morrisons there. I now see 10% of my purchase in future cashback on both accounts, so I will do more shopping before end of promotion on 14th of June.

I see they have a 10% cash back offer for Morrisons. I assume gift cards won’t track? T&Cs say no. But has anyone tried?

I don't have a Virgin account so I haven't tried this specific offer. But when I've had similar offers from other banks/cards, I've found everything tracks. Quite often they say it excludes alcohol and tobacco, but they track, as well as gift cards. I think it just calculates on what's charged to your card by that retailer, rather than using the retailer's records to calculate cashback based on what you purchased.

Yes they track. The receipt is not shared so all the bank (the rewards provider, actually) sees is the amouny paid.

Petrol is different though as charged under different merchant details.
