Is their Claim for £287, which attracts a fee of £27, giving a total of £314?

I think the claim before court fees is under £300, therefore that's probably how it is worked out?

    Yes.

Do the examples linked from the NEWBIES thread help with that?

Written statements and documents to court and other party deadline is 01/03/2023
    Just two days to go.

Surely your Witness Statement and evidence must be nearly ready to file and serve.

I haven't read back through the thread so I don't know if it's been mentioned that WS written by @aphex007 and @SJRRJS are the current best examples to adapt.

But as KeithP says you need to get it filed and served asap.

Email the bundle once you're happy with it.

Not to the CCBC email of course.

Have you run it by us?  Just to make sure you haven't got the old Crosby case in there, and in case we can spot any mistakes or extra things you could include.

  • I havent run it by you but the case is simple enough-they are chasing the wrong person with emails to prove.

One more question-do we have to restate what was stated in the defence statement or the judge will have that in front of them as well? My view of a witness statement is that is was the sequence of events with exhibits as evidence

At the start, we normally suggest the phrase that you see at the start of the WS by @aphex007

Something like this as the intro:

"I am xxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxx of (address) and this witness statement is in support of my defence, with exhibits from my own research. My defence is repeated and I will say as follows:"
