Economy 7 help

I thought that according to Martin's advice the £2500 cap does apply to economy 7 tariffs? As usual it's difficult to find actual E7 tariff info online - but I guess they'll have to be published by October 1st. In my case I currently save about £100 p.a. using an E7 tariff (compared to non E7 standard variable) and I don't have any storage heaters - so you might hang on for a couple of weeks and do a comparison using the actual rates, when they are available.1

From the info we've seen so far it seems that the E7 cap is around £14-1500.EDF have published their rates (see this pdf) but I've not yet seen a similar table from any other supplier.Which energy company are you with?N. I'm with British Gas, Midlands region. My consumption is about 3400kWh electricity with 40 % night use, and 13400 kWh gas.0

This weekend I received my Oct 1st prices from Octopus. I am in the NW region. I think Octopus are stopping the loyalty discount, so that doesn't need considering, but I could be wrong. There was an awful lot of text with the new rates.
SC 41.708p
Day 41.627p
Night 15.619p
For our estimated usage that is just short of a 24% increase on our current rates. (I actually think our estimated usage is a bit high, as it appears to be based on a combination of 2020 and 2021 usage data, that doesn't fully take into account the effect of having solar panels installed in 2021.

Thank you - that's consistent with my present calculation. It would be useful though if BG could produce an up to date tariff table.0

We hit around about 75 - 80% night use across a year. Two storage heaters in use once temperatures demand it, plus an immersion heater for water - although we don't use that every day now - it goes on fully a couple of times a week with a 15 minute manual boost first thing in the morning on the other days. That may change again at some stage. At the moment our E7 hours are 0112 > 0812 meaning we can easily both shower on the night rate - the first boil of the kettle each day also happens on the night rate too. Our flat is a 1950's concrete precast build so very little noise transference from appliances - plus the kitchens are right in the middle of the building so even we don't hear our WM/DW when they are on and we're in the bedroom, never mind anyone else! (We're ground floor too - although we never hear upstairs appliances when those are running either). Anything else that can run at night does - so charging devices etc - as although that's minimal in the grand scheme of things it does make sense to do it when the power to do so costs us a little less. (In real terms these probably do most of their charging before the night rate actually kicks in at this time of year) Once the clocks change things get a little tighter for showering, but as long as we're mindful of times it is still possible to shower on the night rate during the week, at least - it just means we (by which I mean "I" - as MrEH is always up far earlier!) have to be disciplined about making my shower the first thing I do when I wake up.newlywed said:Thanks, the graph is helpful too. Before April we were using about 8% night rate… currently have increased that to about 20% but when clocks change that means day rate kicks in at 7.30 not 8.30 am and living in a flat I’m not sure quite how early we can do washing without annoying neighbours.Really not sure how else to increase the cheap rate use, other than buying smart plugs and timers for all the phone charges etc.
we are currently paying £5 more than we would on a single rate but looking at edf October prices for south east, that might mean we would be paying £14 or so per month more than if we were on a single rate.
Best thing re your neighbours might well be to have a chat with them in the first instance - it may well be that they say that they never hear your WM running in any case, or that they are quite happy for you to start it running from say 6am as they get up at that time anyway...You never know until you ask!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks @EssexHebridean. We hear the flat above’s creaky bedroom door, hear them put the pull cord bathroom light on, hear them weeing and our internal doors shake when the flat above them has their washing on spin…
So tho we are ground floor in a 1980 purpose built block with concrete floors, I am pretty sure they must hear our machine… and don’t want to know what else!!,Newlywed at the point I joined the forum... now newly separated1
