Economy 7 help

Hi, I’m on economy 7 I have storage heaters in the main living area and hallways of my flat. I only switch on the main room one. In the 2 bedrooms I use oil heaters (during the day)as there are no storage heaters. Should I change to a standard rate as at the moment I’m not using any heating. I’m not sure what I will do this winter. I’m probably going to use blankets rather than heating but I don’t know how cold I will be.
thanks
Dave

Is your water heating on the off peak with an immersion ?

Do you know what your night time and day time uses are ?    The normal split to pay E7 pay is in the order of 35%
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

The first question is can you use your living room during the day instead of the bedrooms?

The water heater is on the economy 7. But, I very rarely turn it on. I use the kettle to wash the pots and only shower.

My daughter will be in her bedroom during the day. I will be in the front room. She’s a teenager so doesn’t really want to be with her dad all the time🙄

I've got one of those too!
Who is your supplier? They get to set their own E7 day/night split rates, and with some the E7 day rate is hardly more expensive than the standard rate.

That's quite an expensive fix. Your rates from October on the EPG could be about 1/3rd less than that.

  • Does EPG stand for the energy grant?
This is the full tariff breakdown. It looks like the £2500 cap has not been applied. I’m thinking of not ditching economy 7 as the only thing on at night is one storage heater. I don’t plan on using it over winter and use heated throws in the front room to keep warm. What a time to be alive!

That looks like the original cap figures from Oct 1st, not the revised cap.
The £2,500 figure wouldn't apply to E7 anyway, it is for dual-fuel (electricity + Gas) using 2900kWh/12000kWh respectively, with payment by DD.
Either way, that is not the tariff you will actually be on next month...
  • Mistake on my last post I typed. I am thinking of ditching my economy 7 as I only use it for one heater at night.
