how to easily get rid of bills

Options
couldn't find a place for this so hopefully you don't mind it being here....

So bills.  And other paperwork.

Supposedly it's extremely sought after by scoundrels and so can't simply be put in the garbage.  Now this wasn't a problem previously as I worked for a large company which had secure waste disposal so one could just take the old bank statements etc to work and file them in the locked blue bins.  These were handed over to a company for disposal in keeping with all the strictest data protection protocols.

Now, however, I no longer work for such a place.  So what to do with the stack of papers that are not required?

I'm not going to get a shredder.  I don't want one and don't intend to spend money on even a cheap version.  I could tear up each individual sheet but that will take a while as it turns out I haven't done any sorting or filing for about 3 years so I've got a substantial amount.  I could put them a few at a time on the propane bbq but I think that's just going to create a big sooty mess on the patio.  I don't have a garden incinerator.

So what do you do with your paperwork???

Scissors. Just snip up the important bits. What's wrong with a shredder anyway? Niot a lot of £££ to be secure.

Shredders appear to start at £25 and go up from there.  Not money I want to spend for something I then have to store somewhere for a couple of years until I need it again.  Add to that I'm trying to cut electricity use not add to it.

I had a mini bonfire a handful at a time in an old belfast sink in the garden before I moved. Do you have a bbq bowl or firepit?
Now I periodically sit in front of the tv and tear off the details and tear into tiny bits to go in the bin.
    The rest in papery recycling.

Frankly I'm not convinced that someone is laying in wait to go through my leavings on the off chance. Most personal details are picked up online. It's easier, more lucrative and can be done from the comfort of their own home. Not being seen, no fingerprints and little effort.

Mine was a Tesco end of line, £4 off the local market.

A garden shredder makes short work of paper. Can also be used to shred any garden for the compost heap.
