In that case, @powerful_Rogue would it be best to let the No win no fee company run with it and let them waste their time?

    Worth a shot isn't it?

Is it? Why? See my post above.

    Is 'no-win, no-fee' generally a con?
Only asking because we're in the process of pursuing a personal injury claim and the solicitors work on this basis.

Not usually a con, but it's common that if you win, the fee is pretty much all of the compensation.  You might be awarded thousands in compensation but take home thruppence ha'penny.

Hello, new to this, I hope it’s in the correct place!

In 2012, my Grandparents had solar panels installed by ‘enviro solar’. This was sold to them as an investment and they paid in full.

They have been contacted by a ‘No win no fee’ company who have informed them that even though they did not take out finance to pay for these panels, they are entitled to compensation as the panels were sold to them as an investment.
My husband and I have offered to look into this as, I do not like the idea of them giving away a percentage of anything they may be entitled to, to a big company.
When my husband started to look into how to claim compensation, all he could find was information about how to claim based upon taking about a loan for solar panels which, obviously, is not the case here.

I have all of their installation paperwork and wondered if anyone could help me here? Are the ‘no win no fee’ people having them on or, do they have a case for compensation?

Thank you very much in advance…

Was this for solar PV (generating electricity for use) or solar thermal (generating heat for use)?

There was a lot of mis-selling of solar thermal systems, whereby companies were charging thousands of pounds to install and made ridiculous claims of annual savings and paybacks. In reality most people could only save about £60/yr on the systems, and they required regular maintenance to keep running, which cost more than the savings.

I worked as an expert witness on cases years ago where factually incorrect claims were made by solar thermal installers - in one case they claimed the annual savings on hot water were greater than the whole gas usage (heating + hot water + cooking), which could obviously never be the case. Those cases were brought against the credit card company as the installation company had been dissolved.
