I take that to be a successful approach and a cancellation?  If so, nice one. 👏

    Thanks Umkomaas...I guessed it was
But that's not a reason to pay it.

just asking the question & was wondering whether there is any point in pursuing this on the grounds of poorly placed / unclear / badly lit signage and PDT machine area if nothing else?
    Yes.

My initial guess would be no, and the person responsible should just suck it up and move on.
    We absolutely disagree!

Is this Asda Rugby? If so then there was a thread yesterday with an appeal-winning photo of a sign.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Not showing on Parking Eye yet (says allow 24 hrs for payment reflection on balance so guessing this will be the same) but yes...exemplary customer service from a female member of the Asda Management Team.
I was honest and polite...the lady couldn't have been nicer...will update on confirmation.

Was that the one with the ever so slightly confusing number of hours? that you posted a link to my thread on? Thank you Coupon Mad...very much appreciated.
The pic on that thread looks similar to a section of Asda Rugby apart from the wall being much lower...and I don't think I've ever seen it that sunny there

Just a couple of things. In a couple or so days, go to the PE website as if to pay the PCN (obv don't!) and check its current status. There have been previous cases (not necessarily PE ones) where a busy store manager has forgotten to notify the PPC of the cancellation, which means that the case continues and needs further action to finally close it.

Would you be good enough to give a short synopsis of the success and a link to this thread so that others can see that Plan A is often a good plan!

No problem...It may not be this evening as it's still showing as live atm, but yes...it's the least I can do.

As a footnote to this, I would like to clarify a couple of points, the reason I suggested 'suck it up and move on' was.....
I'd like to think I'm a reasonable fella and whilst the circumstances of this particular incident were unfortunate and could not have been foreseen or indeed avoided, the person responsible was ultimately in the wrong for not paying the fee at the time, and I as the Registered Keeper was prepared to take one on the chin and put it down to experience...much though it would have aggrieved me to have done so due to my lets put it mildly, slight dislike, of PPC's generally, and specifically their pricing structures and pitfall practices...I need no reminding that they would however, robustly and aggresively in some cases defend their existence!

Now before I get shot down in flames for that first comment, just think about this for a moment, the opportunity is given for anyone who decides to use the facility to pay the appropriate fee at any time prior to exiting the car park, which is I believe, fair and reasonable, and rightly or wrongly, I find myself struggling to justify non-payment given such an option under normal circumstances, and due to having received a previous PCN, we are acutely aware and always just pay the fee now....in this case however they were far from normal.
Personally, I believe this is the way ALL car parks should be made to operate...but we all know only a small number do! though they do appear to be on the increase...actually giving change when paying cash in some would also be a nice touch!!
The signage at this particular car park however, having now had the opportunity to assess properly, is, in my humble opinion, another matter altogether, plus the images are taken before you enter and after you exit, but I digress.
Plus, lets be perfectly frank, we all know the majority of PPC's that manage these car parks under the guise for any novice that it's 'their land' are not at all interested in any circumstances...and it's not in their interest to simplify the process.
They have a very profitable business(term used loosely), thank you very much.

The 'I guessed it was' was in reference to the PoFA2012 extract which can be seen on the NTK/PCN...thereby nulifying the option of contesting it on the lack of 9(2)(f) wording from Schedule 4 of said Act...as I had no intention as the RK of ever naming the driver as there is no legal obligation to do so.

So hopefully that's cleared up and apologies for any possible confusion caused by me on these two points.

    Now the interesting bit....
Fortunately, following advice given here, (by more than one kind expert...so thank you for that) I decided to try PLAN A, ...also its point 1 when you search for Action to be taken if you are the registered keeper of the vehicle here:  https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822/newbies-private-parking-ticket-old-or-new-read-these-faqs-first-thankyou#latest
and on this occasion it was successful, (Confirmation shown below. It took 48 Hrs to update online btw...not a money spinner so same speed, minute cogs obviously)...the manager I spoke to (who just happened to be at the CS Desk when I got there) was an absolute diamond, and couldn't have been more pleasant, actually cancelling the PCN there and then...in minutes.
Granted I have to say I didn't complain per-se, it was more a respectful request, and I was, as previously mentioned, without going into detail, absolutely honest and extremely polite, which I always am, (until given cause to be otherwise!)...that said, having read some of the posts on here I still consider myself very lucky and I remain extremely grateful.
If only all the people who have the power/facility to cancel were as understanding and empathetic, not to mention as much of a credit to their employers...to be fair though, each person I spoke to was extremely helpful and pleasant...so well done Asda Rugby in your choice of staff that I dealt with.
    Thank you so much.

PS I'll do the SHORT! synopsis in the next couple of days...Thanks again to everyone involved.
