Is it me? Do people not read or do I write baldly.

Kind of ironic that nobody so far has actually read your initial question carefully enough to tell you no, you don't write baldly.

Look again, the second reply to to OP points it out.
  • It is frustrating but Waitrose are not responsible for your cracked screen. I would accept the £10 offered and then just put it down to experience.
    I see this differently.
It was my choice to shop at Waitrose, even though I knew it's messy with the cards and coupons, but I did not choose to have the till breakdown, which  made me to move away with my wallet and phone in the hand, in a tiny area  with people and trolleys. This is why my phone slipped on the counter.
I feel it's the same if you damage your car because of a pothole. You can claim compensation if you break your car because of it. The road should be free of potholes.
The till in Waitrose should have been working and it didn't. This is Waitrose's responsibility.

Guess nobody is reading properly.  ;)

  • Thank You for all your replies!

Reading all your comments, I think I should have been more clear to Waitrose what I wanted from them.

    @tripled I didn't give feedback, but I wrote a complaint.

@Brie I guess you are right, they just use a script and go through the complaints as quickly as possible. (and yes, baldly was a typo)

I do feel Waitrose has responsibility for my cracked screen, see my comment @comeandgo.

    No.
The till breakdown was unfortunate but it did not make you move away. You could have put your phone and wallet safely back in your pocket or handbag first rather than trying to juggle everything with your hands full of loose groceries, especially in a constricted area with people and trolleys.
Will use "the pothole" as an example again. You could have gone around it, but because you didn't expect this, you didn't. Same with the till breakdown.

No they don't, it was your fault you dropped the phone.

Regarding your comment re cars and potholes, there are plenty of posts in the Motoring section of this forum where pothole claims have failed
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

So basically, you think that it was entirely Waitrose's fault that your screen was cracked and you expect them to pay to fix it and/or pay you compensation ?
In that case, I think in my view the answer to your initial question is - yes, you do write badly (but not baldly) since you don't make that clear in you letter at all.
(I also don't think you should be expecting any more than what Waitrose have offered)
  • Having another thought on this situation.

Maybe Waitrose did it intentionally, only to mention the "slow internet"?
