What Small Things Will You Do This Week?? 05/09/22

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning folks
I hope I haven't cross-posted!
Been feeling a bit tired and flat the last couple of days so I think I'm fighting something off. I'm better than I was but still a bit lethargic. I took it as a sign to rest over the weekend so I flopped about with my knitting and used my new multicooker a few times to cook a chicken and a gammon, and make some beef stock.
Today's MSE things:
WFH so no petrol spend for me
OH noticed that the local Texaco garage is 5p cheaper than Asda (completely unheard of occurrence)
Gym 1/3 (but my heart wasn't in it tbh)
B/L/D from stores. I am trying to get back into eating a bit better. Lost my head in August.
Keep being extra careful with elec. Our usage is coming down.
Spendy things:
Petrol spend to gym and OH to work
Therapist session today
Other things:
Knitting and vegging out later
Have a good one all

Just looking at your lists folks, reminds me, there's lots of little things that I bet we don't always think of. Remember @foxgloves used to write a really in-depth list every so often?
Maybe we can all add to a big list of tiny things!
I'll start:
*Using the little bathroom in daylight hours as it has a window
*Turning off the hob and microwave (same plug) unless I'm using it
*Only charging my laptop until it's full
*Closing the curtains at dusk (was that one beloved of @Baileys_Babe or was it @PurpleFairy26?)
*Keeping the lights off as long as possible
*Making sure I turn the TV to standby if I leave the room briefly and off if I'm leaving for a longer time
*Same with my work monitor
*Using the radio (with rechargable batteries) instead of stereo or phone
*Trying to do most of my laundry on ECO mode (20 deg)
*Drying on the line as much as possible
*Getting people to give me plant cuttings
*Collecting seeds from gardens and wasteground
*Turning off the kettle just before it fully boils
*Not using the car for journeys under 2 miles (unless I really need to )LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.31Student loan repaid: 01/07/2019SAVINGS: £20,000Car final lump sum: £6113/£61132 -
Afternoon allThanks for starting us off @carrielovesfantaSpent most of the morning at an old orchard that belongs to the college DD2 works at, which she and her OH have been renovating. Got a big bag of cooking apples, a small one of eaters and a pot of blackberries, Now need to find a way of storing the cookers - I have a load of old tights so I think I will knot each individual apple into those, and hang up. We took the dog with us, but he didn't seem to enjoy it much, just sat there anxiously wondering where each of us was when we disappeared temporarily behind a treeHad carrot and coriander soup I made a couple of days ago for lunchWe had rain overnight, so did a bit in the garden. Picked some carrots, beans and tomatoes too. Must give the neighbour some tomatoes.Need to prep a load of beans and freeze most of themCheck the fridge for anything that needs using upBetter get on!3
