Thank you LMD! Yes so glad that he is ok, also he was able to rescue the few things that were in the car so it could have been worse. We're having a good think about making a claim, but the car was 20+ years old and the excess is quite high so we'd probably only get a few hundred. Comparing that to the cost of the increased premiums ... Grr! SO annoying! But it could have been so much worse so we're trying to stay positiveLittleMissDetermined said:

I used to work in car insurance claims and it should be covered on your policy, back in the day the only thing that wasn't covered was the wire where the issue started, although obviously you will need to pay the excess too.
