    There are certainly alot of people living in properties that are too big for them, you can see that on this forum when people ask about closing off rooms and not heating certain parts.

    Being asset rich and cash poor is not a good place to be at the minute. 
    You can also see that on programs like grand designs, escape to the country, G.C's old house new home 2 people living in 3,000+ square feet.
