Thanks to those who recommended Bright app. I've just set mine up. There was message about taking up to 24 hours to get data. A few questions:

    1) Its showing data for today, Saturday & Friday, but nothing before that. Is that because it takes a while to access previous usage data?
    2) Its showing different kWh usage for gas than Octopus app. Is that because Octopus app uses 'Sarah's mode' ie approx conversion?
    3) Its showing no gas usage so far today. Boiler was on for 30 mins to heat water this morning & husband fried something on gas hob for breakfast.

    Any clarification gratefully received.
The support email for BRIGHT is support@glowmkt.com

All apps use a fixed calorific value to convert volume to kWh. The same is the case with the gas proxy meter in the smart meter comms hub. There is no convention as to what this should be. Actual Gas billing uses the average calorific value for the billing period truncated to one decimal place.

If you want real-time usage information on BRIGHT then you will need to pay for Hildebrand’s IHD/CAD. The app will refresh if you swipe it manually.

Hildebrand pull data from your meter in the early hours of the morning. Smart meters are not in permanent contact with suppliers or other users. The communications cost would be too high.
    Thanks

I don't need real time data, I was just puzzled why only very recent data was showing.

Hmmm. Meters only installed 28 September so all still new to me. I think I set to 30 mins but I'll check.

No- my meters are set to a 30 minute usage profile. I have data up to the meter pull at 2am this morning. The App will update with a manual swipe but not immediately.

The Hildebrand IHD polls on a 10 second frequency (I think). Data can also be extracted from the IHD by MQTT. Personally, I am happy with what BRIGHT offers without the need for another IHD.

Just checked. No idea what previous setting was but it’s now 30mins.

Bright has also populated data back to 17 Oct. Still no gas usage today though.

With apologies for straying so far OT, I’m going to stop posting about Bright on this thread. Thanks to all for sharing knowledge though.

yes the app took a day or two for all the data to be there for us as well. not sure why it had the 48 hour data maybe its stored in a different place?

the app only updates once a day in the night i think so wouldn't have this mornings or todays usage until late tonight/first thing in the morning.

i think the gas is a little less accurate than the electric. gas meters measure in units and then its got to be converted into kwh. the formula is a little different each month as one unit of gas can contain a different amount of energy because the volume changes if its hotter or colder (think about buying petrol in the middle of winter or middle of summer you get a little more or less miles from your tank due to the expansion. so the bright app and your supplier might be using different calorific values to work out the actual number of kwhs you used.
