Partner visa

Options
I am an Irish citizen, been with my partner (EU citizen) for over 3 years, spent at least 10 months of each year together (bits of time apart to be with our families).
Looking at the option of settling in UK.

How stringent are the proof of relationship documents in practice?
Lots of accommodation was just booked in the cardholders name, although correspondence with the landlord/host could be shown with this.
Would a combination of flights we were on together with hotels and accommodation we shared generally suffice?

Thanks.

Very stringent. They need to ensure you're not just doing it for money or for a friend. Flights together are evidence but you'll need more than that. Scour both your bank statements to show you were together in the same location home and abroad at the same time.

https://www.gov.uk/uk-family-visa/partner-spouse#:~:text=You can use things like, live at the same address

    How to prove your relationship

    Send evidence that:

    • comes from the government, a bank, landlord, utility provider, or a medical professional
    • confirms your relationship with your partner - for example, that you live together, share expenses or are married or in a civil partnership
    • is less than 4 years old

    You can use things like:

    • a marriage certificate or civil partnership certificate
    • a tenancy agreement, utility bills or council tax bills confirming that you live at the same address or pay bills together
    • a bank statement from a joint bank account, or confirming that you live at the same address
    • a letter from your doctor or dentist confirming that you live at the same address

If you do not have any evidence that meets this criteria, there is other evidence you can provide instead. However, it’s less likely that you’ll be given a visa in this case.

Other evidence you can provide includes:

    • a one-off bill like vet’s fees or home repair costs
    • letters confirming you and your partner are on the voting register for the same address
    • student finance paperwork confirming that you live at the same address

Things like greetings cards, travel tickets, receipts, photographs and text or social media messages are not considered strong evidence of your relationship and are unlikely to help your application.

Does she have employment in the UK or have a skill that is likely to enable her to find employment?

Are you in full time employment or where is it you are living at the minute and what is the next plan?

She previously worked in UK for a few months (roughly 10 years ago) and has a UK tax number.

She has a skill, but unsure if employers would be willing to jump through sponsorship hoops rather than just employ somebody who already has a work visa.

How does one prove this when staying together with family?
Or staying in a home owned by the partner?

    Thanks.

It seems clear that you do not have the kind of evidence that is required. Far and away the simplest solution is to go through some kind of marriage ceremony.

    The gov.uk site says we need to be able to prove;
"you’ve been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply"
and that the evidence is less than 4 years old.

Do the 2 years need to be the most recent 2 years, or a combination of dates that add up to 2 years?

That is only one of the suggested proofs.

    There are others.

Where are the pair of you living at the moment?

Do you yourself have a full time stable job?

If you are Irish, and she is from an EU country why not just set up base in Ireland?

Do you actually live together? This visa is for married partners or those that are unmarried but in a relationship to the same level

If in your partners home you should be named on the council tax bill and have other bills such as phone, bank & credit cards registered to that address
