Can anyone recommend a cat deterrent for a garden?

A cheaper deterrent is a mixture of paprika, cayenne pepper, garam massala and chilli powder. It’d best done when its dry, sprinkle the mixture where the cat goes and about 1 foot around it. The combination will irritate the cats nose and it wont go there again1

I've given up. So many cat dodos I'm leaving it to pile up and embarrass the neighbours with cats + there's no more room for the cats to poop.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

A few years back I got some cat repellent spray from Wilkos - it had garlic in it and worked an absolute treat.
Unfortunately, they dont do the same product any more but if you can find a product with garlic in it then I would def give it a try. I bet Google has a home recipe for making your own?
It reeked when first sprayed but as it was outside, no big deal, occasional top up from the bottle and although after a while I couldnt smell it, animals with a better sense of smell obviously could and it stopped them.1 -

That would have been a great idea during the long hot summer, but it looks like the weather will break soon so any powder will simply lose its effectiveness very quickly.

'Get off my garden' cat and dog repellent crystals. Little green jelly globules, so reasonably rain resistant.
Garden centres and Amazon etc sell it.2
